162 Earthquake shelter bed JP2005137960 2005-05-11 JP2006314417A 2006-11-24 MIYAMOTO MASASHI
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bed capable of reducing the risk of being injured or crushed to death by automatically providing a person asleep or even awake thereon with an emergency shelter space when an earthquake has occurred. SOLUTION: A bed bottom 1, which can be slanted downward being hinged on one side, is supported by the fulcrum of the hinge side and a support rod 4 which is attached via a hinge 7 at right angles to a side board 2 covering the other side. The side board 2 and the bed leg on that side are fixed by a pin 3 so that the support rod 4 can firmly prop up the bed bottom 1. In case of earthquake, a vibration sensor 5 installed on the bed detects its shake, when the pin 3 fixing the support rod 4 is pulled out to get the bed bottom 1 slanted, and then the person on the bed bottom 1 is forced to slide thereon. When the bed bottom 1 is slanted, it pushed down the support rod 4 as well, which pushes up the side bottom that used to be attached at right angles to the bed leg to become a top shelter board. As a temporary shelter space is created under the shelter board, the person getting into the space instantly is likely to be protected from the earthquake. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
