PURPOSE: To improve shock absorbing property at the time of collision by making up a power plant frame out of a frame member in an U-shape cross section, and thereby making it up in such a way as to form the whole of it into a dogleg configuration when viewed sideways. CONSTITUTION: In a power plant frame 3 the whole of which is formed into a dogleg-shape configuration when vied sidebays, a bent section C is formed just in rear of the connecting position on the side of a power unit 1 so that it is easily deformed when impact force is applied. The power plant frame 3 is made up out of two sheet sections which are mutually joined into an U- shape cross section, so that its bending stiffness is great, but is flexible against twisting. In addition, a drive shaft 4 and the upper and lower flanges 3b and 3c of the power plant frame 3 are arranged in such a way that they are not mutually piled up with one another except an intermediate section when vied downwards. Therefore, when the vehicle comes into a head-on collision, the support 9 is moved rearwards, and before the collapsing movement of the vehicle reaches the final stage of collision, the stopping members 11 function so that the collision energy is absorbed into load wheels 5b through tire parts 5a of the wheels 5. Accordingly, the engine E and the power train P can be prevented from being thrusted into the interior of the vehicle.
