An improved seating apparatus for an aircraft includes a seat assembly and a quick install track fitting assembly for securing the seat assembly to the aircraft. In a preferred embodiment, the quick install track fitting assembly is made up of a track fitting body for insertion into an aircraft seat track and a manual lever that is pivotably attached to the track fitting body. The manual lever has a lever release position and a lever lock position. A force bearing plunger is movably attached to the manual lever for transferring force to the aircraft seat track. The force bearing plunger has a track release position and a track lock position, wherein both positions correspond to the lever release and lever lock positions of the manual lever. A lock may also be provided for maintaining the plunger in the track lock position when the manual lever is in the lever lock position. The quick install aircraft track fitting may further include a spring loaded secondary plunger to help locate and provide a secondary lock for securing the seat assembly into a proper position within the aircraft seat track. Moreover, the quick install track fitting may further include an anti-rattle feature that urges the force bearing plunger against the top of the seat track.

Spaced-apart segments extend from the upper walls into the slot to provide undercut areas in the slot positioned under the segments. Spaced-apart openings are positioned between the segments. The fastener assembly includes a stud that extends from the fixture and is dimensioned to be received within the slot for engaging the spaced-apart segments. The fastener also includes an eccentrically-mounted cam movable between a first position and a second position. When the cam is in the first position, the stud can engage the spaced-apart segments with clearance, and when the cam is in the second position, the stud can tightly engage the spaced-apart segments.

A multi-passenger seat is supported by a lower cantilever frame which comprises a horizontal seat frame and an inclined arcuate truss support frame. The horizontal seat frame includes two elongated horizontal stretcher members attached at one end to the wall of a vehicle and at least two cross frame members interconnecting the stretcher members at laterally spaced locations. The inclined arcuate truss support frame is located beneath the horizontal seat frame; and it includes fore and aft inclined arcuate frame members rigidly attached at their upper ends to the stretcher tubes respectively at locations preferably on the aisle side of the transverse center of the horizontal seat frame. The inclined arcuate support frame members extend downwardly from the seat frame and preferably they converge toward each other. They are connected to the wall at locations above the floor of the vehicle. Preferably, the attachment means for attaching the seat to the vehicle wall are adjustable to achieve proper horizontal alignment of the seat. A housing surrounds the inclined arcuate support frame members and the area between the inclined members and the horizontal seat frame to house a heater and air conditioner blower and a radioannouncement speaker.
