A spacer is interposed between the wheel and the portion of the tire separated radially from the wheel by a space and is configured to limit the inward flexing of the tire. The spacer may be permanently affixed to the wheel assembly or may be removably attached to the wheel assembly. The spacer may be adjustable between a first size and a second size.
86 APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR INSPECTING FLOODED CAVITIES IN A FLOATING OFFSHORE INSTALLATION US15039487 2014-11-27 US20170021665A1 2017-01-26 Danny Constantinis
A threaded connection body (20) is welded to the outer surface of the wall (10) of a pipe, seachest or other flooded cavity (4) within the hull of a ship or floating off-shore installation. A sealed cutting apparatus (50) is mounted via a valve unit (30) on the connection body and a cutter extended through the open valve (34) to form an opening (18) in the wall (10). After retracting the cutter and closing the valve (34), the cutting apparatus is replaced by a sealed inspection unit (70) having a camera (71) which is extended through the valve and the opening to inspect the cavity (4). After retracting the camera and closing the valve, the inspection unit is replaced by a plug deployment unit (100) which is used to advance a plug (120) through the open valve and screw it into the connection body (20). The valve unit (30) can then be removed and replaced with a cap (90) so that the plug and the cap provide a double seal to the connection body.

90 Tension-based non-pneumatic tire US13333834 2011-12-21 US09004127B2 2015-04-14 Ali Manesh; Mike Tercha; Olukemi Ayodeji; Brian Anderson; Brian J. Meliska; Fidelis Ceranski
A non-pneumatic tire for supporting a load by working in tension comprising a generally annular inner surface, a generally annular outer ring, and an interconnected web having a plurality of web elements and comprising a plurality of generally polygonal openings. Web elements are sized, oriented and comprised of a material that facilitates buckling when subjected to a compressive load. By buckling, those elements in a deformed portion of the tire between a hub and a footprint region where the tire contacts a surface may assume a significantly reduced portion of the load, if any. This causes web elements in other portions of the interconnected web to operate in tension to support the load. With the portion of the tire in the footprint region not bearing a significant portion of the load, non-pneumatic tire may exhibit a more comfortable ride subject to less noise and vibration and improved handling capabilities.

The connection cylinders (15) are composite cylinders comprising fibers embedded in a resin matrix.
93 DEFORMABLE WHEEL ASSEMBLY US13576587 2011-02-01 US20130033099A1 2013-02-07 Avishay Novoplanski
A locomotion assembly is provided, suitable to be used in a vehicle. The locomotion assembly comprises a frustum-conical structure comprising at least one flexible member having a frustum-conical surface extending between its relatively narrow and wide ends along a frustum-conical axis, the frustum-conical member being reversibly deformable from its biased rounded shape corresponding to a frustum-conical shape in which its side elevation is circular into a deformed frustum-conical shape in which its side elevation is non-circular. The frustum-conical structure may serve for supporting at least one surface-engaging member convertible between a round wheel-like configuration, in which its side elevation is substantially circular, and a deformed configuration, in which its side elevation is non-circular and in which a larger portion of the surface-engaging member is in contact with a movement surface.

95 NON-PNEUMATIC TIRE US13122115 2009-09-16 US20110278911A1 2011-11-17 Yusuke Funaki
An object of the present invention is to provide a link-type non-pneumatic tire which can reduce the rolling resistance and improve the drive comfort and drivability compare to the solid tire, and also drastically reduce its weight compare to the conventional link-type non-pneumatic tire. The present invention provides a non-pneumatic tire 2 to be mounted to a circular mounting element 3 to form tire/wheel assembly 1, comprises: a tread 7 disposed outside the mounting element 3 in a tire radial direction and extending in a tire circumferential direction in a state where constituting the tire/wheel assembly 1; a plurality of link mechanisms 8 mounded to the mounting element 3 with intervals therebetween in the tire circumferential direction and connecting the tread 7 to the mounting element 3 in such a manner that the tread 7 can move in the tire width direction and radial direction with respect to the mounting element 3; and ring-like members 9L, 9R extending in the tire circumferential direction and connecting circumferentially adjacent link mechanisms 8 with each other to generate reaction force against a displacement of the tread 7 relative to the mounting element 3.
96 TENSION-BASED NON-PNEUMATIC TIRE US11691968 2007-03-27 US20090283185A1 2009-11-19 Ali Manesh; Mike Tercha; Olukemi Ayodeji; Brian Anderson; Brian J.
Since the tire is non-pneumatic, it may be easier to maintain and may have a longer life than standard pneumatic tires since it eliminates the possibility of blowouts, flat tires, or tires operating with low air pressure. By virtue of the portion of the tire in the footprint region not bearing a significant portion of the load, non-pneumatic tire may also exhibit a more comfortable ride subject to less noise and vibration and improved handling capabilities.

99 Cushioned wheel for roller skates US305969 1994-09-15 US5560685A 1996-10-01 Giuseppe De Bortoli
The invention discloses a wheel for roller skates, comprising: a tubular central body (1, 15) suited to lodge in its interior one or two bearings (2, 3) inserted in the supporting pivot (4) of said wheel and a toroidal covering layer (5) wrapped around said central body and co-axial with it, made of material suited to allow the rolling of said wheel on the contact surface. Said wheel presents at least one annular element made of shock-absorbing material, said annular element being placed between said central body (1, 15) and said toroidal covering layer (5), such as to permit the out-of-alignment between the central body and the toroidal covering layer, whenever said wheel bumps into the irregularities of the rolling surface.
100 Deformable wheel useful for instance as a vehicle wheel or in a gearing US195714 1988-05-18 US4917162A 1990-04-17 Guy Le Feron De Longcamp
A deformable wheel useful for example as a vehicle wheel or as a gear comprises a tread which is incompressible around its periphery but flexible under radial forces and a tension transmission system connecting different points of the tread to substantially diametrically opposed points and designed in such a way that, under a normal load, the strength of the radial forces which act on part of the connecting system is sufficient to prevent the wheel from collapsing completely. The tread may be constructed of hinged plates or may be similar to a tire tread or may be provided with teeth, depending on the application of the wheel, and the wheel may also include a central rigid part or hub to which the connecting system is attached. The wheel may be used for vehicles, gearings, pulleys and so on.
