A rim for a vehicle comprising a tire contact to which a clincher or a tubed tire may be fastened is disclosed. The tire contact includes a core wrapped by reinforcing thread so that the core is covered by a supporting layer formed by the reinforcing thread. The tire contact is covered at least on the radial inside by the cover layer formed of reinforcing thread so that a reinforcing ring is provided between the cover layer and the tire contact. Methods of manufacturing fiber composite rims are also disclosed. A core is wrapped with a reinforcing thread to deposit a supporting layer on the core and to form a tire contact. The tire contact is arranged adjacent an aerodynamics enhancing component and a reinforcing ring. The tire contact, the aerodynamics enhancing component and the reinforcing ring are wrapped with one or more reinforcing thread(s) to form a cover layer.

The present invention concerns a felt covered castor put under a piece of furniture to make it roll on a floor. The castor comprises one or more wheels on which are fixed felt strips rolled up along the wheels. The use of the felt strip allows to brush slightly a surface of the floor and to protect it from scratches occurring at the passage of a naked wheel on the floor. And also it deafens the noise of the sliding wheel against the floor. Means of binding such as fusion or sticking are used to maintain firmly the felt strip on the wheel and to prevent it from getting loose.

A method for the manufacturing a rim with a layer structure for a muscle-powered vehicle is disclosed. The method includes providing a first, pressure and temperature resistant mould. A first plane reinforcement fibre package consisting of at least two separate layers of reinforcement fibres is inserted into the first mould. One or several reinforcement fibre mat(s) are inserted into the first mould onto the first reinforcement fibre package. A second flat reinforcement fibre package consisting of at least two separate layers of reinforcement fibres is inserted into the first mould onto the one or several reinforcement fibre mat(s). A spacer is inserted into the first mould and the first mould is closed by means of a second, pressure and temperature-resistant mould. The layered structure is hardened and the rim may be removed from the moulds. Rims, running wheel and bicycles manufactured using the described process are also disclosed.

A tire rim cover is provided to serve as a protective barrier for a tire rim against cleansing material used for enhancing the appearance of a wheel disposed around the tire rim. The tire rim cover includes a circular body portion having a front side, a rear side, and an outer edge. The front side includes a handle thereon that can be grasped by a user so as to manually press the rear side of the body portion against an inner edge of the wheel to enclose the tire rim. The outer edge is composed from flexible material so as to allow the body portion to be twisted into a figure “8” shape and folded in half afterwards to form a compact configuration. A pocket disposed on the rear side can receive the folded body portion therein to maintain the compact configuration for easy storage.
