Provided is a presser foot system for sewing machine comprising a small tubular cylinder bed which is used, for example, in joining crotch sewing of underpants or drawers and joining shoulder sewing of shirts. Distance (L2) from the center of a needle location (8) to the cutting starting position of a knife trimming mechanism (10), wherein the upper edges of the ends of fabrics in a vertical face-to-face contact to be fed to a guide path (9) are cut to an even length, is set to the range of 16.5 mm to 18.0 mm in actual dimension. This range is sufficient so that the ends thus cut by one operation of the knife trimming mechanism (10) are stacked one on another by the operation of guide of upper and lower guides (11, 12) until these reach the needle location (8). Thus, irrespective of the thickness and flexibility of the fabric material and the presence or absence of a step, the ends of the fabrics cut to the even length can be fed in a predetermined stacked state to the needle location (8), thereby ensuring high quality finish of sewing.

The present invention provides an dispositif for a sewing machine which clamps the end of an upper thread for the next sewing job, wherein the upper thread is automatically cut after finishing sewing. The upper thread clamping device enables compatibility even when using presser feet with different widths. More specifically, the clamping device effectively clamps the upper thread even when using a narrow presser foot. Therefore, the clamping device is able to: prevent waste of sewing thread by maintaining the length of the upper thread from a needle as short as possible; effectively prevent separation of the upper thread from the needle; and effectively prevent entanglement of the sewing thread caused by unnecessary long lengths of the upper thread on the sewing surface when sewing starts. In the clamping device, a presser foot fixture (62) and a needle fixture (6) are vertically arranged on one end of an arm (1). The clamping device has the presser foot (63) which is connected to the presser foot fixture (62) by a press foot block (60) to enable vertical movement in the presser foot fixture (62). The clamping device is characterized in including: a drive generator (2) which is operated by the controller of a sewing machine; a pair of stoppers (70) which are installed on the press foot (63) and are arranged apart to place a needle (7) connected to the needle fixture (6) between the stoppers; and a holder (50) which has a holding lug (51) located between the stoppers and alternatively moves to the stoppers due to a connection with the drive generator (2). The holding lugs (51) are located on both sides of the stoppers due to the drive generator (2).
