CONSTITUTION: The black stain useful in permeation-dyeing of woods is prepared by first mixing color dyes to obtain a black colorant, then dissolving the black colorant in a solvent (e.g. water) and optionally adding additives such as a wetting agent, a preservative to the solution. For example, the suitable formulation of color dyes for preparing the black colorant is as follows; 16 wt.% C.I. acid yellow 23, 56 wt.% C.I. acid red 18 and 28 wt.% C.I. acid blue 9. The method to use the black stain comprises of the steps of adding the black stain into an autoclave, then dipping a wood chip and treating the black stain and the wood chip under high pressure at high temp. to subject the chip to permeation-dyeing.
