A gear selection device (16) for a transmission assembly (1) of a vehicle is disclosed, comprising a main lever (18) for selecting two operating positions (U, D) and on which are provided two buttons (P, N), one of which (N) is for selecting neutral, and a small auxiliary lever (23) also having two operating positions (U, D), and an electronic processor (17) for controlling the the gearbox (4) and the clutch (3). The lever (18) is connected to transducer means (24) adapted to convey to the processor (17) input signals (25-30) indicating the actuation of the lever (18) itself, of the button (P) and of the auxiliary lever (23); in particular, when the vehicle is moving, the processor (17) controls the engagement of the first, second or fourth gear higher or lower than that currently engaged following input signals (25-30) corresponding respectively to the actuation of the auxiliary lever (23) by itself in one of the two positions (U, D), of the lever (18) by itself in a respective position (U, D), and of the lever (18) in combination with the button (P), after having verified that the engine speed as a result of the change in gear ratio falls within a range of acceptable values. |

A speed changing apparatus usable for a saddle-riding type car of the type including a bar-shaped steering handle and a speed changing gear mechanism having plural forward movement stages and a single backward movement stage is disclosed which is characterized in that shifting of speed changing gears to any one of the forward and backward movement stages is controlled by rotational displacement of a rotary type change cam and the apparatus is provided with stopper means adapted to limit rotation of the change cam within the range of an angle or rotation which is determined by the forward movement stages, wherein the stopper means is released from the operative state by means of an actuating lever which is disposed on the handle, thereby assuring inhibition of an occurrence of damage or injury of gears due to incorrect handling by virtue of arrangement which is so made that shifting to the backward movement is achieved by very simple operation but shifting of any gear cannot be achieved unless handling is performed in the presence of correct intension for backward movement. |

The invention relates to a control mechanism for a gearbox with several ratios, with coaxial shafts, comprising a control member with oscillating mounting, engaged via drive plates with a cylindrical slide fitted, at its periphery, with grooves in which there are engaged the guide tenons of the moving forks located in a single plane, which provide displacement of the clutch. The external surface 36 of the guide tenons has the shape of a cone and the guide tenons are in straight contact with lateral walls 30 of the grooves 28, the angular projection of the cams 43 which result from the grooves 28 passing across the surface of the slide 10 in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the slide forms at least one circular arc whose length corresponds to an angle at the centre alpha 2 which is less than 140 DEG . |

Class 80 (3) [Also in Group XXXVII] In mechanism for operating a switch or other device such as a valve or detent, successive strokes in the same direction of a spring- returned slidable actuator alternately engage two interengaging spring-biased pivotal or slidable switch-operating members which are thereby moved from one to the other of two limit positions. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the switch-operating members comprise two similarly-shaped pivoted arms 36a, 36b which are interconnected by a spring and are formed at their ends so as to interlock in either of two limit positions, Figs. 1 and 2. The actuator 41 comprises a spring-loaded plunger to which is pivoted an arm 55 having a finger which, when the actuator is depressed, engages the end of one arm 36 and thus moves both arms 36 to the opposite limit position. The arm 55 is biased to a central position, by a spring 59. The arms 36 are carried by shafts mounted in two bosses in the frame 20, one of the shafts carrying at its other end an arm 31, Fig. 6, having a tab thereon to contact the actuating pin of a switch S. In a modification, the arm 31, and switch S are omitted and each shaft carries an insulating arm 63, Fig. 10, having a silver alloy or other contact 61 secured to a channel member thereon, said contacts being respectively engageable with two pairs of fixed contacts mounted on an insulating panel secured to the frame. In a further modification the shafts carry arms which may be linked to a mechanical device such as a valve or detent. In a still futher modification, Fig. 12 (not shown), the pivoted arms 36 are mounted on a sheet metal frame and themselves each carry a contact, said contacts being respectively engageable with two pairs of fixed contacts. In this construction the actuator may be depressed by hand or by a solenoid. In the form shown in Fig. 14 the actuating pin of a switch S' is engaged by a chamfered collar on one of a pair of spring-loaded slidable rods 81a, 81b whose upper ends have each a conical recess for co-operation with a pin 89 pivoted to an actuator 88 which is upwardly biased by a leaf spring. In the position shown the rod 81b is in its uppermost position, with the chamfered collar abutting a fixed way 82, and holds depressed the rod 81a. On descent of the actuator 88, the pin 89 engages the conical recess in the rod 81b and depresses said rod until the rod 81a is released and is moved by its spring to a position wherein it holds the rod 81b depressed. The rod 89 is urged to a central position by a spring-pressed pin 96 which bears against the pivoted block carrying the pin 89. |
