29 Method of levelling a pallet load EP94308943.3 1994-12-01 EP0657335A1 1995-06-14 Gonzalez, Ricardo I.

A method of levelling a pallet load includes providing at least two pallets (24, 26) and a pre-determined combination of containers and void fillers (20a and b). The combination of containers (22) and void fillers (20a and b) are placed upon a first pallet (24) that has generally flat, horizontal top (28) and bottom (30) surfaces. The combination of containers (22) and void fillers (20) defines a horizontal plane upon which a second pallet (26), which has generally flat top (28) and bottom (30) surfaces, is stacked.

30 Cargo airbag EP93309281.9 1993-11-22 EP0600650A1 1994-06-08 Keenan, Thomas C.; Goshorn, Douglas A.

An airbag (20) for use in a cargo bay of a transport vehicle for buffering and stabilising a load, usually large paper rolls or drums, comprises two inflatable, gas tight bladders (22, 24) surrounded by a multi-ply paper container (26). The bladders (22, 24) are situated in a partially overlapping relationship with respect to one another. This enables a load with a rounded configuration to be cradled, buffered and stabilised while minimising the need for additional packing or supporting materials.

31 Captive dunnage fitting EP84302240.1 1984-04-02 EP0130663A1 1985-01-09 Crissy, Charles F.; Holmes, Paul M.

A dunnage bar system for freight containers utilizing a fixed elongated track (16) cooperable with fittings mounted upon the opposite ends of an elongated bar. The bar fittings including a head (62) captive within the associated track affixed to a neck extending through an elongated slot (32) wherein the fitting may be adjusted along the track length and openings (34, 36) formed in the track selectively cooperate with head projections (68, 74) to lock the fitting against longitudinal track displacement. The dunnage bar fittings are releasable from the track openings by a rotative movement of the head either with, or relative to the bar, and with a relatively movable head a latch (94) is associated therewith locking the fitting head relative to its bar.

36 Collapsible and expandable void filler EP94308944.1 1994-12-01 EP0657336A1 1995-06-14 Keenan, Thomas C.; van Erden, Donald L.; Lo Presti, Philip B.

A collapsible and expandable void filler (20) for supporting and restraining cargo during transit in trucks, railroad cars and airplanes includes an outer tubular housing (22) having a diamond shaped tubular core (24). The housing (22) and core (24) are collapsible into a generally flat configuration along score indentations (36, 56). In one embodiment, the void filler is held in an expanded configuration by a plurality of collapsible wall portions (58) along the outer housing (22) that collapse inwardly from the periphery of the housing and engage the core (24). In another embodiment (Figures 5 and 8), the void filler is held in an expanded configuration by a cord or elastomeric bands (74) which are tightly stretched around the periphery of the housing and is held in a series of aligned notches (70).

37 A VALVE STRUCTURE FOR A SACK OR THE LIKE TO BE FILLED WITH AIR EP90916487.3 1990-11-15 EP0511212B1 1994-08-24 FINELL, John
The invention relates to a valve structure for a sack or the like to be filled with air, which valve structure comprises an essentially cylindrical tubular part (2) extending hermetically from the inside to the outside of the sack and having external threads (21) on the portion outside the sack, a plug with internal threads (13) to be screwed on the external threads (21) of the tubular part (2) to close the end (24) of the tubular part hermetically, and a filling valve (15) in the middle of the plug (1). To facilitate and accelerate the emptying of the sack, the present invention is characterized in that the plug (1) has several air exhaust holes (14) within the area surrounding the filling valve (15), and that at the end of the tubular part (2) facing the plug (1) there is an inner, preferably annular flange part (23), the upper surface of which is pressed hermetically against the lower surface of the plug closing the exhaust holes (14) of the plug, when the plug (1) is entirely screwed in its place.
38 A filling-out device for cargo spaces EP92850281.4 1992-12-01 EP0553605A1 1993-08-04 Källner, Torbjörn

Device at cool cargo spaces (1), for securing the cargo sideways, and comprising at least one inflatable body (6) provided between the side wall of the hold (2) and the cargo space (1), whereby said at least one body (6) is arranged in inflated state to fill out essentially all space (3) between the side wall (2) and the cargo, not used for cargo, and thereby at the same time to reduce the volume of cooling air required for cooling the cargo space.

39 A VALVE STRUCTURE FOR A SACK OR THE LIKE TO BE FILLED WITH AIR EP90916487.0 1990-11-15 EP0511212A1 1992-11-04 FINELL, John
40 Cargo air bag EP86303751.1 1986-05-16 EP0202887A3 1989-03-08 Liebel, Henry J.

An air bag for bracing products shipped by a railcar, trailer or overseas container to prevent lengthwise and/or crosswise movement of the cargo includes a first sheet (16) of paperboard having parallel side and end edges folded inwardly defining a planar center section (16a) and overlapping sides (18) and ends (26), a second sheet (24) of paperboard of the same dimension as the center section (16a) facing the center section and having its marginal side and end edges (24a) interposed between the center section (16a) and the overlapping side and end sections of the first sheet and glued to the side (18) and end (26) sections, and an inflatable bladder (22) between the two sheets. The bag is constructed of relatively stiff paperboard of a minimum of two laminated plys. Thus, the overlapping side and end edges of the first sheet define with the second sheet a peripheral border of a minimum of six laminated plys of paperboard. The bag has relatively good vertical stiffness when uninflated making it easy to use. The air bag is further characterized by its ease and economy of manufacture.
