The present invention concerns a wheel rim and a method for making a wheel rim of the type suited for use on an agricultural or construction vehicle. The new feature of the wheel rim according to the invention is that the central hub plate at the outer periphery includes a number of tabs extending away from the centre of the central hub plate, where the second hub plate at its inner periphery also includes a number of tabs extending towards the centre of the hub plate, where the tabs have a geometric shape such that the tabs fit between each other, where the tabs include holes arranged at the same pitch circle diameter and at right angles to the tabs. In connection with the making of the hub plate, the second hub plate and the central hub plate can be produced from a single piece of suitable material, preferably steel plate, as the mentioned tabs extend over each other when two parts are separated and turned such that the tabs come to lie upon each other. The two hub plate parts are then joined by bolts in the holes formed in the mentioned tabs. | ||||||

A varying-track wheel comprises a rim (11) with fastening elements (12) projecting towards the rotation axis of the wheel and a disc (14) peripherally secured in a removable manner to said fastening elements by means of bolts (15). The wheel comprises at least two devices (16) for a precise mutual positioning of the disc and rim. Each of such devices is operatively disposed close to one of said fastening elements (12) and in turn comprises a tubular seat (17) on the fastening element (12) to removably receive one end of a dowel pin (18) the other end of which projects towards the disc to be fitted into a centring hole (19) formed in the periphery of the disc itself. |

A wheel (10) of the varying-track type comprises a rim (11) with fastening elements (12) projecting towards the rotation axis of the wheel and a disc (14) peripherally secured to the fastening elements in a removable manner by means of bolts (15). The wheel further comprises at least one device for disc and rim positioning which is operatively disposed close to one of the fastening elements and comprises at least a first centring hole (17) formed in the fastening element (12) and at least a second centring hole (18) formed in the disc periphery. The positioning device further comprises a plate (19) from which a dowel (20) juts out passing through the first and second centring holes with a minimum backlash for a mutual precise alignment of the two holes. The plate is advantageously locked to the wheel by the same bolt (15) provided for fastening of the rim (11) and plate (12). Still advantageously, the positioning devices may be two in number, disposed at 180° from each other along the wheel periphery. |

A method of producing a welded assembly comprising two members (10) and (12) wherein the assembly is adapted subsequently to have an element (14) connected thereto in a manner that imparts a connection force to the welded connection (28) between the two members (10) and (12), the method comprising the steps of, prior to welding the two members (10, 12) together, temporarily applying a force to at least one of the two members (12) to simulate the force which is to be imparted to the welded connection between the two members (10, 12) as a result of the connection of the further element 14 to the assembly, welding the two members (10, 12) together to form the assembly whilst maintaining the predetermined force on the at least one member (12) and subsequently removing the predetermined force from the at least one member (12). |
