본 발명의 림(rim), 에어레스 타이어(airless tire) 및 허브 캡(hubcap) 설계는 특정 방향 전형적으로 전진 방향으로 회전할 때 운동하는 차량의 하측부 아래로부터 공기를 제거하기 위해 구성된다. 상기 공기 운동에 의해 차량 아래에서 진공이 형성될 수 있고 차량에 대해 하향력이 형성되며 차량의 타이어와 도로표면사이에 견인력이 증가되고 차량의 무게 중심이 낮아진다. 따라서, 상기 하향력과 부부적인 진공은 타이어의 회전속도가 증가함에 따라 증가되고 상대적으로 높은 속도에 상대적으로 큰 견인력을 제공한다. 상기 휠, 에어레스 타이어 및 허브 캡 설계가 가지는 또 다른 장점은, 거의 모든 차량의 휠과 근접하게 위치한 브레이크 부품위에 공기를 유동시켜서 형성될 수 있는 냉각효과이다.

Preferably the traction assembly is mounted to a traction hub through a resilient coupling, and with the traction hub permitted to rotate relative to the rim. Also preferably, the invention provides for full retraction and extension of the curved traction elements by use of a linear actuator. The present device delivers increased traction in slippery conditions while protecting the traction device and surrounding mechanics from damage due to the impact of roadway forces, and the device is effectively stowed within the rim when not in use.
