Apparatus for forming a recess in an internal surface of an elongated hollow body comprised of a housing having a rotary mill and means for rigidly clamping the housing at a desired position within the interior of the body attached thereto. Means operable from the exterior of the body are provided for clamping the housing within the interior of the body and selectively moving the mill into contact wth an interior surface of the body whereby a recess is formed therein. |

An apparatus for use with an hydraulic tracing system on a machine tool having a slide controlled by the deflection of a tracing stylus wherein there is provided a means for limiting the penetration of a cutting tool into a workpiece. The apparatus comprises means in series with a tracer control valve for shutting off fluid flow to the slide when the cutter has reached a preset penetration level and means for resetting this level.

This invention relates to a milling machine for working on the inner surfaces of work pieces such as molds chills, patterns and the like which has one or more platforms adapted to carry the piece and which is rotatable about an axis or slidable in a plane. The platform is carried by a frame which in turn carries a vertically movable slide. The latter supports another slide which is horizontally movable. Horizontal axis supports are mounted on the second slide and a ledger is mounted on the supports. Tools are so mounted on the ends of the ledger that their respective tips are aligned with the horizontal swinging axis of the ledger. The machine is adapted to carry out four movements in different directions.

A rocket nozzle shell-ablative liner composite is disclosed in which a large hot-sized, high-strength unitary nozzle is formed of annularly welded frustoconical ring sections of varying diameters and cone angles. Each of the ring sections is formed of arcuate ring segments welded together to form a unitary frustoconical ring section, and each ring segment is cut and contoured plate metal. The welded ring sections and unitary nozzle are hot sized to remove distortion, and the external surfaces of the resulting nozzle structure is only nominally machined to design configuration. The internal surface dimensions of the nozzle are measured numerically to receive a matchmachined ablative liner which is bonded thereto. The liner has an inner layer of an ablative material and an outer layer of a resin impregnated fiber glass fabric which is machined to the inner dimensions of the nozzle shell.

DAVIS LIONEL G |
A routing machine having substantial automatic capability to route one or more workpieces at once which will conform to a template wherein the routing machine has a capability of 360* movement to rout work items of complex radii. The machine in the preferred embodiment comprises a pair of horizontally extending boom arms which are independently rotatable about a central pivot post. Each boom arm has a spindle assembly which moves radially along the boom arm from the centerpost and which carries the tracer to follow a template pattern and a router which cuts a workpiece to duplicate the contours of the template. Each boom arm is complete in itself and is independently controllable to trace a template and to rout workpieces mounted upon workstands whose positions are radially adjustable to fit the configuration of the desired template and workpiece.
