81 GEAR-BOX CONTROL DEVICE FOR AUTOMOTIVE VEHICLES GB1416873 1973-03-23 GB1390886A 1975-04-16
1390886 Variable ratio gearing CHRYSLER FRANCE 23 March 1973 [17 April 1972] 14168/73 Heading F2D A gear lever 1 for controlling ratio change in a gear-box 3 is mounted at vehicle floor 7 level (e.g. via a ball-and-socket 15) on a beam 4 having at each end a resilient hinge (e.g. a pin passing through a resilient bush in a pair of eyes in the beam) one 8 connecting the beam to the gear-box 3 casing, the other (e.g. via a link 12, Fig. 5 (not shown), having a resilient hinge at each end) to the vehicle floor. Linkages, Fig. 4, between a rod 20 pivoted to the lever 1 and a rod 28 in the gear-box 3 is also described and comprises two separate linkages. One linkage converts rotation of the rod 20 into axial movement of the rod 28 for gear selection via an arm 30 on the rod 20, a link 31, a bell crank 35 mounted on the gear-box at 36. The other linkage converts axial movement of the rod 20 into rotation of the rod 28 for gear engagement via, a bell-crank 22 pivoted on the beam 4, a link 25 pivoted at 26 to an arm (27), Fig. 2 (not shown), on the rod 28.

1310477 Gear shift activating mechanism HONDA GIKEN KOGYO KK 22 Dec 1971 [31 Dec 1970] 59698/71 Heading F2D To avoid gear disengagement due to relative movement between an engine gear-box 1 and vehicle body B spaced supports 2 extend from the gear-box and pivotally support an elongated frame 9 on pins 8, the other end of the frame 9 being resiliently supported on the body B at 10. The gear lever 11 is articulately supported on the frame 9 and is pivotally connected to a rod 6 extending within the frame 9 to be pivotally connected to a pin 5 at the end of a gear change control rod 4 through a shockabsorber member 7. The pivots 5 and 8 are coaxial so that relative movement of the body and engine does not cause unfavourable movement of the lever 11 which might cause gear disengagement.

918,649. Linkwork. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. March 23, 1961 [April 1, 1960], No. 10673/61. Class 80 (3). [Also in Group XL (a)] In a remote control mechanism, particularly for handling radio-active material, a control cable 51 is first tensioned by movement bodily of a pulley 50, around which the cable 51 passes, and is subsequently further tensioned by rotation of a pivoted cable lever 55 to which the end of the cable 51 is clamped. The pulley 50 is moved bodily by squeezing together finger and thumb grips 20, 21, thereby causing lateral movement of a shaft 42 carrying pivoted selector plates 34, 39 having arcuate extensions 46 engaging a shaft 48 on which the pulley 50 is mounted. The shaft 48 is held in its new position by a ratchet bar 59 pivoted on the shaft 48 and engaged by a pawl 63. Shaft 33 and its associated selector plates 34, 39 are retracted to their original position by spreading apart the finger grips 20, 21. In order to rotate the cable lever 55, the selector plates 34, 39 are moved downwardly so that arcuate portion 47 engage a shaft 49 which is connected to the cable lever 55 by a Unit 71. Squeezing together of the finger and thumb grips 20, 21 causes movement of the shafts 33, 49 and hence rotation of the cable lever 55 to further tension the cable 51. The link 71 is provided with a ratchet bar 72 which is engaged by a pawl 75 to hold the link in its operative position. The cable tension is released by operation of a trigger 80 which causes disengagement of the pawls 63, 75. A cam 89, actuated by a lever 90, is provided for rendering the pawls 63, 75 inoperative. U.S.A. Specification 2,764,301 is referred to.

553,274. Lathes. SCHWOB, T. Oct. 31, 1941, No. 14057. Addition to 538,431. [Class 83 (iii)] The lathe described in the parent Specification is modified by actuating the lever controlling the chuck sleeve by a chain drive. The headstock 400 is traversed on the frame 6, preferably by lateral slide members 121, 122, Fig. 5, as described in Specification 541,036. The spindle 401 and sleeve 407 are slotted to accommodate the chuck-operating levers 403 which are actuated to operate a sleeve 413 carrying the collar 414. The levers are operated by a sliding coned ring 418 carrying, on bearing pins 419, an actuating ring operated by a lever 502 pivoted at 423 and having arms which carry sprocket wheels 503, 504, and chains arranged as shown in Fig. 1 are connected at their ends to fixed points 528, 529 on the frame and to the arms of a lever 514. This lever is mounted on a shaft 515 carrying an arm 524 operated by a cam 518 and cam lever 519 driven anti-clockwise from a control shaft 531. In the position shown in full lines, Fig. 1, chain 526 has rocked lever 502 to shift the clamping ring 419 to the left and clamp the work. During the anti-clockwise rotation of the cam 518, from position R to position S, Fig. 1, the lever 514 is rocked clockwise to open the chuck. On further rotation of shaft 264 the cam path 520 restores lever 514 to the position shown and closes the chuck.

402,509. Linkwork; motor vehicles. ROVER CO., Ltd., and WILKS, S. B., Helen Street, Coventry. June 28, 1932, No. 18229. [Class 80 (iii).] A linkage for preventing the movements of a resiliently mounted engine affecting the control of a motor vehicle clutch the pedal of which is mounted on the chassis, comprises parallel rods 7 pivoted to the pedal, levers 9 pivoted to the rods and to a link 11 parallel to the pedal arm 4, and a connection between the link 11 and the clutch shaft 12. The levers 9 may interengage by teeth 16 or be connected by a link to which the link 11 is secured. Depression of the pedal causes a clockwise rotation of the link 11 and hence actuation of the clutch shaft. Longitudinal movement of the engine 2 will merely deform the linkage slightly without causing angular movement of the link 11 or arm 4.
