1326476 Mounting gear levers SAABSCANIA AB 17 Nov 1971 [23 Nov 1970] 53449/71 Heading B7H An arrangement for mounting a vehicle gear lever 10 so as to reduce movement of the lever caused by relative movement between the body and chassis of the vehicle caused by heeling and lurching includes an arm 19 in which the lever is pivotally mounted, the arm 19 being pivotally mounted to the vehicle engine 1 suspended in a frame 2 and to the frame by a tie rod 24 pivoted to the frame 2. The gear lever 10 is movable in two planes 11, the lower end 12 being bifurcated and pivotally mounted around a shaft 13 in a member 22 pivotally mounted on a pin 23 pivotally mounted in an arm 19. The member 22 is attached to a gear shift rod 14. The pin 22 is positioned centrally of the arm 19 and of the engine 1 and rod 24. |

1,006,272. Toothed gearing. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. April 8, 1963 [April 25, 1962], No. 13917/63. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division B4] Rotational movements of two parallel driving shafts 1a, 2a are transmitted to two parallel driven shafts 1b 2b by gears 3a, 3b on the ends of the shafts 1a, 1b respectively, meshing an internally toothed gear 5, and by gears 4a, 4b on the ends of shafts 2a, 2b, respectively, meshing an internally toothed gear 6, which is rotatably mounted by balls 7 within a recess in the gear 6. The arrangement allows rotation about the pipes XX1 of the plane containing the driving shafts 1a, 2a and of the plane containing the driven shafts 1b 2b. The device is utilized to connect parts of shafts T2, T4 in a remotehandling appliance comprising three hinged sections 11, 12, 15 in which shafts T1, T2, T3 and T4 are coupled by toothed gearing and universal joints to transmit movements of an operating handle 14 to a gripper 17. Clamping and release of the gripper 17 is effected by rotation of a rod T5 having a screw-threaded engagement with a nut 23 on the gripper 17. A toothed coupling 6.1a may be disengaged to permit angular motion between the arms 12, 15. |

500,835. Controlling motor vehicles. STANDARD MOTOR CO., Ltd., GRINHAM, E. G., and TURNER, W. R. Feb. 16, 1938, No. 4765. [Class 79 (v)] In a vehicle having an engine 1 resilientlymounted so that it can rock the accelerator pedal 4 is mounted on the vehicle and is connected to the throttle 2 or other engine control by a Bowden or equivalent twin-element flexible transmission 8, 9. Thus movements of the engine on its resilient supports do not tend to vary the opening of the throttle when the accelerator pedal is held in a stationary position. In the construction shown the pedal is pivoted at 5 on a bracket 6 which is secured to the dash 7 and carries an adjustable back stop 12 for the pedal. |

410,107. Clutch-operating mechanism for vehicles. AUBIN, E., Elmstead, West Wittering, near Chichester, CLAREMONT, A. W., Vernon House, Sicilian Avenue, Bloomsbury Square, London, (Representatives of ROYCE, SIR F. H.), and DAY, B. I., Wittering House, Duffield Road, Allestree, Derby. Nov. 7, 1932, No. 31314. [Class 80 (iii).] In a clutch-operating mechanism for vehicles, undesirable movement of the clutch pedal relative to the chassis, caused by movement of the engine in, for example, its rubber mountings, is obviated by supporting the fulcrum shaft by a system of floating levers which compensate for any such movements. The fulcrum shaft d is supported at one end by a ball and socket joint d<1> and at the other end by a pendulum lever c which allows the shaft to swing fore and aft. The lever c is anchored by a lever e to the clutch housing and the clutch pedal is connected to the clutch lever g by the link g<2>. The levers are so proportioned that any movement of the pedal caused by movement of the engine relative to the chassis is compensated for by movement of the pedal fulcrum shaft through the lever e. |

329,744. Karlovitz, L. March 15, 1929. Driving-gear of crank type. - Transmission gearing for electric locomotives &c. allowing relative displacement of parallel driving and driven shafts due to spring of the frame &c. comprises a pair of cranks at 180 on each shaft, cross-connected diagonally by transmission systems which are connected to an otherwise free shaft located at the intersection of the diagonals whereby completely constrained motion is obtained. In one form, Fig. 1, cranks 12, 15 are connected by a linkage system 17, 18, 20, 21 whilst diametrically opposite cranks 11, 13 and 14, 16 are connected by similar linkage systems, the tie links 20, 21 &c. being freely mounted on a common floating shaft 0 the position of which coincides with the intersection of the diagonals between the cranks. The shafts M, F rotate in the same direction. In a modification, Fig. 3, the crank pins carry blocks 35, 36 slidable in rocking guides 38, the two systems being pivotally connected by a pin or shaft located at the axis O. In this form complete constraint is obtained by hydraulic interconnecting means between the slide blocks 35, 36, comprising a closed cylinder 41 in which work a pair of eccentric pistons 49, 42 of equal displacements, the central piston 49 being connected by a rod 33 to the slide block 35 and the annular piston 42 by a rod 34 to the block 36. Packing rings being provided and there being no passage for the fluid 50, 51, displacement of either piston in one direction produces equal displacement of the other piston in the opposite direction, the motion of one crank being thus transmitted to the other, accompanied by rocking motion of the slide frame about the vertical axis O. The arrangements may be multiplied as between the same shafts or for connecting up a number of parallel shafts in lazytong fashion. |
