CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary light source 10 is installed on the side opposite from the focusing type transmission body array 6 of original glass 1, and this light source lights the back surface of an original 3 while guiding the original 3. A halogen lamp 14 which is a main light source is disposed in a position fairly away from the array 6 and part of the light thereof is condensed by an ellipsoidal mirror 15 which is the 1st reflection means, and this condensed light lights the image plane P of the original 3 from the left side of the optical path of the array 6. Part thereof reflects from a parabolic mirror 16 to the parabolic mirror 17 mounted in the lower part of the original glass 1 and is made into parallel rays which light the image plane from the right side of the optical path. Hence, the front and back of the original are lighted and the image of good quality is obtained even with the translucent original.
