USE: A herbicide capable of exhibiting excellent herbicidal effects on various broad-leaved weeds and gramineous weeds without phytotoxicity to broad-leaved cultivated crops, e.g. cotton, soybeans, AZUKI beans, peanut or rapeseed, particularly useful as a herbicide for plowed fields, and suitable for controlling broad- leaved weeds of the family compositae.
PROCESS: A benzotriazine derivative of formula II (Y is halogen) is reacted with a 4-hydroxyphenoxy fatty acid derivative of formula III in the presence of an inorganic or organic base in an inert solvent to give the compound of formulaI.
