CONSTITUTION: Non-ferrous members 47 are arranged with regular intervals on the outer surface 30 of a ferrous hub 12 near the inner end 34 of it. The outer surface 30 of the hub and the outer surface of the members 47 are coincidental with each other, forming an even cylindrical surface. The wheel hub assembly 10 with such constitution can be manufactured by arranging a ring or band including the members 47 as protrusions in a mold, burying/fixing the ring integrally with the hub with injected/caked iron material for the hub 12, then cutting the outer surface. CONSTITUTION:An axle holding member 11 having an axle holding part 12 formed at the front part is installed so as to be advanced and retreated between the axle 1 receiving position A and the assembly position B for the axle 1 by the operation of a driving means 13. An axle transportation passage 14 which communicates to an axle feeding apparatus 15 is installed at the axle receiving position of the axle holding member 11, and the axle 1 is transported in rows in the longitudinal direction. At the axle assembly position B, the driving means 24 and 24 for pushing the wheels 2a and 2b which are held at the holding part 21 into the both edges of the axle 1 are arranged at the positions opposed to the both edges of the axle 1 on the axis line of the axle holding part 12. Then, in each holding part 21, the wheels 2a and 2b are transported from each wheel feeding apparatus 23 through a transportation passage 22.

PURPOSE:To reduce a space in possession and realize phase adjustment for the plural sorts of tires by centering in a position corresponding to the diameter of the tire by means of a shooter, freely elevation/lowering lifter, positioning arm and a centering center and indexing a bolt hole and further inserting a locate pin. CONSTITUTION:After receiving a tire W from a shooter 18, a lifter 24 is lowered and transfers said tire onto a receiving stand 27 waiting in a position adjusted to the diameter of the tire W, then a positioning arm 40 is advanced and restrains the tire W to press its side wall part to a basic plate 43 and performs positioning. Subsequently, a centering center 36 is engaged with a hub hole of a load wheel R to perform centering, and further a locate pin 34 is pressed closely to the load wheel R. Then the tire W is rotated round the centering center 36 by means of a roller 30, and a bolt hole 9 is indexed through rotating the tire W until the bolt hole is detected by means of a photoelectric detector 35, and adjustment of the position of the tire W is performed. In this manner, phase adjustment of the plural kinds of tires, with a small space in possession, can be performed.

PURPOSE:To improve the rate of line operation by indicating points of and reasons for defective equipping of nuts on a backup station provided on a rear step of a tire fitting section. CONSTITUTION:An abnormality indication devices 310 are provided in four points of a backup station juxtaposed to a rear step of a tire fitting station. Said device 310 is equipped with lamps 311-314 which visibly indicate specified positions of defective nuts when defective equipping and defective torque occur with four nuts required for one tire, while said device 310 is also equipped with lamps 315-316 which respectively indicate occurrence of defective adjustment of phase of the tire, abnormal supply of nuts to a nut runner, defective position control and detection of a hub bolt, and tire pass. Thus, on the basis of signals of abnormalities transmitted during a tire fitting work, lamps 311-316 corresponding to said signals are lit to indicate points of and reasons for abnormalities. Accordingly, the rate of line operation is improved.

PURPOSE:To improve work efficiency by providing a hub bolt position detection device, with toe-in and camber detecting function, on the side of a hand unit and performing correction control of a tire fitting unit. CONSTITUTION:In a condition where a hub bolt position control and detection device 80 is opposed to a wheel hub H of a tire W gripped by means of a tire fitting unit 50, said unit 50 advances in X direction, and said control and detection device 80 is brought in contact with a hub bolt 21, then said device 80 detects a position of the hub bolt 21, toe-in and camber, subsequently said device 80 sends out a signal of detection. According to this signal of detection, the tire fitting unit 50 is put in movement in the directions of X, Y, Z axes, swivelling in (theta) direction and slant movement in (gamma) direction, and phase of a bolt hole is adjusted to that of the hub bolt. Thus, adjustment of phase of the bolt hole to that of the hub bolt is automatized, and not only efficiency but also reliability can be improved.

The apparatus also includes a transporting device that transports one of the wheel and the tire along a linear path that traverses the at least one linear mounter sub-station. The component of the at least one linear mounter sub-station resists, but does not prevent, movement of one of the tire and the wheel relative the other of the tire and the wheel along the linear path in order to spatially manipulate one of the tire and the wheel relative the other of the tire and the wheel in order to at least partially couple the tire with the wheel for forming the tire-wheel assembly. A method is also disclosed.
