41 PROCEDURE FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF TIRES OR CAR WHEELS, WHICH ARE DEMOUNTED FROM A CAR, TO ANOTHER PLACE IN A GARAGE TO BE PROCESSED, AND BACK AGAIN, AND A FRAME FOR THE CARRYING OUT OF THE PROCEDURE EP06742461.4 2006-06-13 EP1926608B1 2012-05-02 Pedersen, Mogens Lyngby
By a procedure for transportation of car wheels (2) mounted with tires, which are demounted from a car, to another place in a garage for treatment, for example, exchange of tires, the car wheels (2) are arranged in a vertical position side by side on a frame (1), which consists of two - in an initial position - horizontally, or approximately horizontally, mutually parallel bottom rails (3) against which the wheels (2) can rest, and of two side rails (4) arranged over the bottom rails (3), which side rails are arranged approximately level with a central section through the wheels (2), and which are mutually parallel and parallel with the bottom rails (3), and which act as side guides for the wheels (2). The frame (1) is mounted on a vehicle (5), and the side rails (4) can be moved from an initial position, in which they are not gripping the wheels, to a position in which the wheels are squeezed in position between the side rails (4). The wheels are then moved to another place, where the frame (1) is tilted over into a vertical position and the side rails (4) are reverted to an initial position, after which the wheels are removed from the frame (1) for treatment, the frame (1) is brought back to its initial position, and the wheels (2) are after finished treatment again placed in the frame (1), after which the wheels (2) are transported to another place. By this procedure manual transportation of the car wheels from one place to another is avoided.
42 Wheel lift EP10445010.1 2010-12-19 EP2338696A2 2011-06-29 Askling, Lars

Wheel lift with a U-shaped frame where, for lifting of a tractor or machine wheel that is to be mounted or demounted, the U-shaped frame on the lateral parts of the frame has one or several rollers essentially in parallel with the lateral parts and allowing rotation of a lifted wheel. The lateral parts of the frame each comprise two or several parts, one fixed to the central part of the frame and one or several in relation to this displaceable part, so that the lateral parts become variable to their length. The rollers are arranged on the displaceable part in respective lateral part. Supporting wheels are arranged in the moveable part in respective lateral part furthest from the central part.

44 A METHOD OF AND APPARATUS FOR ASSEMBLING AN AIRCRAFT WHEEL OR BRAKE COMPONENT ON AN AXLE OF AN UNDERCARRIAGE EP01967540.4 2001-09-21 EP1322517A1 2003-07-02 LAIRD, Robert; DAWES, Richard
A method of and apparatus for assembling an aircraft wheel or brake (10) component on an axle (26) of an undercarriage in which a holder (12) is provided for the component along with a lifting device (28). The lifting device is used to lift the holder with the component therein to a position where the component is substantially in axial alignment with the axle. Once in that position, assembly of the component on the axle can take place by moving the component axially on to the axle. The holder can then be lowered away from the assembled component.
45 APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR HANDLING TWIN WHEELS OF A VEHICLE EP95926984.0 1995-08-07 EP0783412A1 1997-07-16 LAAKSONEN, Reijo; HUUSKO, Olavi; LAAKSONEN, Jukka
The invention relates to an apparatus for handling twin wheels of a vehicle. The apparatus comprises a frame structure (1-3), two pairs of support members (10-11 and 12-13), and a hydraulic lifting arrangement comprising at least a hydraulic actuator (8) for lifting the pairs of support members (10-11 and 12-13). The pairs of support members (10-11 and 12-13) are arrayed in two support member pairs (10-11 and 12-13) that can be lifted separately, the hydraulic lifting arrangement comprises first hydraulic lifting means (14, 15) connected to the hydraulic actuator (8) and coupled to lift the first pair of support members (10-11) and second hydraulic lifting means (16a-16f) coupled to lift the second pair of support members (12-13), and the first and second hydraulic lifting means (14, 15, 16a-16f) are connected to a common hydraulic pressure generated by the hydraulic actuator (8).
46 Combination wheel jack and trolley EP94106341.4 1994-04-22 EP0622330A3 1995-02-01 Kophamel, Jeffrey

This invention relates to a combination wheel jack and trolley for use in removing and fitting wheels (10) to vehicles, especially heavy vehicles. The wheel jack and trolley has a cradle (11) which is designed to restrain a wheel (10) positioned therein, rollers (12,13,14) located on the cradle (11) to enable said wheel (10) to be rotatable, a frame to hold the frame and wheel at a desired altitude, and a means (16) to raise the wheel and cradle above the ground or substrate. The wheel jack and trolley also has trolley wheels (15) which enable the arrangement to be easily movable.

47 Self-propelled tire dolly EP93108349.7 1993-05-24 EP0571917A3 1994-03-09 Asaumi, Masayuki, c/o BRIDGESTONE CORPORATION; Kanatomi, Tokio, No. 803, Tateishi-DK-Haimu; Kamanoi, Fumio

A self-propelled tire dolly (16) for transporting a tire in a working area for performing tire removal and mounting services by placing the tire on a tire-supporting section which is raised or lowered by a lifting device. The tire dolly is supported by three wheels (24, 26), and a drive wheel (26) among the three wheels is located at a central portion of the base on the rear side thereof. A steering handle (32) is provided above the drive wheel (26). Since the drive wheel constituted by a single wheel and the steering handle are located in the center on this side during manoeuvering, the tire dolly is easy to steer. The steering handle can be retreated from a fixed position to obtain a working space during tire removal or mounting.

A nut runner (38) can be moved along fixed rails (26) and a moving rail (28). A tire (22), after being removed by using the nut runner, is supported on a tire dolly (90), and the tire is transported to an outer rail. Here, the tire is held by a hanger, and is transported to an operating machine. A movable block is provided with a sensor, and a plurality of stop points are set in each rail. Upon completion of the operation by the operating machine, the tire is held again by the hanger (58), and is transported to a predetermined position along the outer rail. The tire is then supported on the tire dolly, and is temporarily fixed to a vehicle. In this state, the nut runner is moved, and nuts are tightened by means of this nut runner, thereby completing the tire demounting and mounting operation.

The invention in question concerns an articulated portable trolley designed to facilitate changing the wheels of trucks, coaches, tractors and similar vehicles.

The trolley, which is inserted under the wheel to be changed after it has been raised from the ground, can be adjusted according to the size of the wheel and raised to bring two arms with rollers into contact with the tire, which is supported, in this way, during dismantling. After having unscrewed the bolts, the trolley enables the wheel to be changed to be removed and lowered to the ground without effo rt.

The new wheel to be mounted is then placed on the two lowered arms of the trolley and is, in this way, easily raised to the height of the hub and brought close to it. One of the two rollers may be made to rotate to make the wheel turn slowly to align the holes on the rim with the corresponding connections on the hub.

The trolley is adjustable so as to be adaptable to wheels of differing sizes and can be dismantled in such a way as to be contained in a small case.
