Disclosed is a method for the production of a spindle nut (3) of a spherical thread drive mechanism. The inner circumference of said spindle nut (3) comprises at least one screw-shaped track (4) which is formed thereupon as a single piece and the threads (38) of which are separated by means of shoulders (6). Said shoulder (6) is interrupted at least at one peripheral position by a deflecting recess (23) in order to redirect balls (13) from one thread into an adjacent thread (38). The inventive method comprises the following steps: a tool arbor (56), the outer circumference of which is provided with a counter-profile of the screw-shaped track (4) and a projecting part (59) for each deflecting recess, is disposed inside a hollow blank (57); a tool exercising radial forces (F) acts upon and reshapes the blank (57) from the outside, the inner circumferential surface of the blank (57) being shaped according to the counter-profile and the projecting part (59) of the tool arbor (56) during the reshaping process such that the screw-shaped track (4) and the deflecting recess (23) are formed. Beschrieben wird ein Werkzeug zur Herstellung von Gewinden, insbesondere von Innengewinden, das ein Herstellungsverfahren ermöglicht, bei dem die Innenoberfläche (16) einer Werkstückbohrung mittels spanloser Druckumformung bearbeitet wird. Das Werkzeug hat einen Formkopf (18; 118) mit zumindest zwei nach der Art eines Gewindefräsers ausgebildeten und in konstantem axialen Abstand (T) zueinander stehenden Profilvorsprüngen (20), die über den Umfang durchgehend und mit sich über den Umfang verändernder radialer Erstreckung (ERMIN, ERMAX) ausgebildet sind, so dass im Bereich eines jeden Profilvorsprungs (20) über den Umfang zumindest ein Drückstollen (22; 122) entsteht. Die Profilvorsprünge (20) bilden mit der sich über den Umfang ändernden radialen Erstreckung (ERMIN, ERMAX) über den Umfang jeweils mehrere Drückstollen (22; 122) aus. Die Drückstollen (122) benachbarter Profilvorsprünge sind in Umfangsrichtung zueinander versetzt. Um Gewinde unterschiedlicher Nenndurchmesser besonders wirtschaftlich und mit verbesserter Gefügequalität im Bereich des Gewindes herstellen zu können, wird das Gewinde dadurch gebildet, dass das Werkzeug zunächst an einer Umfangsstelle der Werkstückbohrung in das Werkstück eingefahren wird, vorzugsweise auf volle Gewindetiefe gebracht wird, und unter Beibehaltung der zur Achse der Werkstückbohrung eingestellten Exzentrizität der Drehachse eine 360° durchlaufende Relativ-Kreisbewegung (Zirkularbewegungs) bezüglich der Achse der Werkstückbohrung ausführt, während der Formkopf gleichzeitig eine konstante axiale Relativ-Vorschubbewegung um das Maß der herzustellenden Gewindsteigung ausführt.

The arm-to-be portion (42) has a given thickness and a hole (42a) with a diameter greater than the inner diameter of a projecting connector portion (20) of an arm portion (15). A pair of flat face portions (42b) extending parallel to the axis of the body portion (13) are formed on the cylindrical outer surface of the arm-to-be portion (42). A tap (44) that has an external thread (43) formed along its cylindrical outer surface is inserted into the hole (42a) of the arm-to-be portion (42). Concave faces (49),(49) are concaves respectively formed on the opposing surfaces of an upper die (47) and a lower die (48) so as to have a shape like a half cylinder with a curvature corresponding to that of the cylindrical outer surface of the projecting connector portion (20). The concave faces (49),(49) sandwich and apply pressure to the arm-to-be portion (42), thereby narrowing the arm-to-be portion (42) and forming an internal thread (19) in the cylindrical outer surface of the hole (42a) of the arm-to-be portion (42). With the tap (44) being removed while being rotated, formation of the arm portion (15) is completed. Compared with a method that calls for forming an internal thread (19) by threading with an external thread (43) of the tap (44), the method of the invention enables the easier and quicker formation. The invention also prevents wear of the tap (44) and enables the easy formation of the projecting connector portion (20) of the arm portion (15) having stable characteristics and a desired internal thread (19).

Since the center lines of the rollers are aligned and one roller 49 is of two-ridged type, both the rollers 48, 49 can maintain stable rolling attitudes and can therefore perform the rolling work simply and satisfactorily.
