A plant for producing foodstuffs is particularly suited for use as a chocolate plant, and permits facilitated tailoring thereof for a particular production purpose by including at least two sections, at least a portion of which are mechanically independent of one another. The foodstuffs are advantageously processable and/or conveyable in product carriers, and optionally delivered from one section to another by transfer devices located therebetween. Optionally, intermediate storage devices may also be provided between the portion of the sections which are mechanically independent of one another.
54 Heat exchange apparatus US117693 1998-08-04 US5957037A 1999-09-28 Anthony John Paget
A heat exchange apparatus for use in the production of sugar confectionery or for tempering chocolate including a vessel with a tubular heat transfer surface. The vessel defines an inlet and outlet higher than the inlet. Heat exchangers, such as steam jackets and modulating valves are provided for supplying heat to or removing heat from the heat transfer surface. A shaft is located longitudinally along the length of the vessel and is provided with at least one piston. The shaft is reciprocated in the vessel so that the product is agitated and substantially the entire heat transfer surface of the vessel is swept by the piston during each reciprocation cycle.

The input station and the output station of the store are constructed and arranged to be operated independently of the other. The store also has a plurality of gondolas, each gondola having a plurality of carrier plates for carrying work products thereon. A first generally circular and continuous conveyor at the input station lifts the gondolas off of the storage line, moves the gondolas through the input station for the placement of work products thereon, and then places the gondolas back onto the storage line for travel to the output station. At the output station a second generally circular and continuous output conveyor lifts the gondolas off of the storage line, moves the gondolas through the output station so that the work products may be removed therefrom, and then places the gondolas back onto the storage line.
57 Pump for viscous fluids US518803 1990-05-04 US5169292A 1992-12-08 Robert J. Loubier; Lawrence P. Zepp
An oval gear pump for shear-sensitive fluids particularly suited for use in dispensing metered amounts of food syrups, condiments, or other thick or viscous liquids. The viscosity of some of such materials tends to degrade when excessive agitation is incurred. The gear pump minimizes such agitation by sweeping integrated masses of substantial volume between the inlet and the outlet. The pumping system also provides a flow-sensing device including a tubular magnet movable against spring pressure by fluid flow to an operated position. When the magnet is in the operated position, an adjacent external switch is operated to produce a signal indicating flow. The pumping system is particularly adapted for use in connection with ice cream dispensing machines.
