Spring electrical contact members (36, 38) are mounted on the actuator arm and slide into and out of engagement with electrical contact segments (26a, 24a) respectively mounted on respective circuit boards (26, 24) as the actuator arm pivots. The actuator arm is formed with a hub portion (32a) received in bores (12b, 13b) of the housing. The hub in turn has a bore (32b) which is received on and keyed to the manual shaft of a vehicle transmission by opposing flat surfaces (32c). First and second annular spring seal elements (34) are received between respective sealing surfaces (12a, 32a) and (13a, 32a) to prevent ingress of debris into cavity (14). Housing member (12) is formed with a connector portion (16) having a generally cylindrical connector shroud (16a) which receives terminal pins (28) which are electrically connected to contact segments (26a, 24a). Connector portion (16) is received through a first bore (2) of the transmission housing wall (6) and manual lever shaft (8) is received in a second bore (4) of the transmission housing wall (6).
63 Switch with connector US154525 1993-11-19 US5434375A 1995-07-18 Yasuyoshi Kawada; Yoshiyasu Kawai; Toshihiro Uchida
A switch with a connector, having a switch body and a first connector member. The switch body is screwed into and fixed to a supporting member. The first connector member is mounted to the switch body and provided such that a direction of connecting a second connector member to the first connector member is disposed at a predetermined angle with respect to a direction of inserting the switch body. The first connector member is disposed so as to be rotatable around an axis along the direction of inserting the switch body. When the first connector member is rotated around the axis along the direction of inserting the switch body after the switch body is fixed to the supporting member, the first connector member can be set at a predetermined position for connecting the first connector member to the second connector member.
64 Shift lever apparatus for automotive vehicles US512758 1990-04-20 US5015807A 1991-05-14 Masaharu Ishizuki; Hiroshi Sakon
An intermediate lever is additionally disposed between the position pin of the shift lever shifted to Park-position and the Park-position detecting switch. Therefore, even if the axial stroke of the position pin along the shift lever at Park-position changes according to the models of the shift lever apparatus, it is possible to use in common the same standardized Park-position detecting switch by changing the shape or dimensions of only the intermediate lever, thus reducing the parts stock or maintenance cost thereof. Further, it is also possible to mount the switch at any desired position away from the pin locating cutout formed in the shift lever support frame.
65 Switch for detecting shift positions of automatic transmission US268756 1988-11-09 US4916263A 1990-04-10 Koichi Ichigo
In a switch for detecting shift positions of an automatic transmission in which a movable contact piece is moved in a linked relationship with the shifting over of shift positions of the transmission so as to effect switching with each of stationary contact pieces corresponding to the shift positions, stationary contact pieces for monitoring are disposed in combination with the stationary contact pieces corresponding to the shift positions, thereby enabling predetermined combination signasl to be output. In the detection error checking of this invention, auxiliary contact points for monitoring are used together with a plurality of stationary contact points so that combinations of contact pieces are determined with a certain regularity which is monitored by a control unit so as to check detection results.
66 Self-referencing position switch US95042 1979-11-16 US4296286A 1981-10-20 Warren N. Richardson
A self-referencing position switch particularly adapted to respond to the position of an automobile gear shift lever. The switch is responsive to the position of a movable external member relative to a stationary member and includes a pair of housing sections one of which is attached to the stationary member and the other of which defines a track for a movable switch member which follows the movements of the external member and is arranged to close the switch at a selected location along the track. The two housing sections are movable relative to one another in more or less the direction of the track so that by engaging the movable switch member against one or the other end of the track and moving the housing sections relative to one another, the selected location on the track can be correlated with a selection position of the movable member.
67 Cycle gear selector US650872 1976-01-21 US4072204A 1978-02-07 Peter W. Leighton; Charles P. D. Davidson
A gear selector for use on an electrically assisted cycle includes a body which is arranged to be secured to the frame of the cycle. A lever is movable manually relative to the body and is arranged to be connected to the gear mechanism of the cycle whereby movement of the lever relative to the body causes operation of the gear mechanism to change the gear ratio. A cam is movable with the lever and a cam follower engages the cam and is moved thereby. An electrical switch carried by the body and operated by movement of the cam follower, and the cam is such that the cam follower is moved to operate the switch during any movement of the lever to effect a change in gear ratio. The cam is also such that the switch is returned to its initial operative condition after the movement which effects the gear change. In an electrically assisted cycle utilizing such a gear selector mechanism the switch controls energization of the electric motor such that the motor is not energized during gear change operations.
68 Rotary electrical switch assembly having a rotor and an eccentrically mounted contact member US3662129D 1969-12-08 US3662129A 1972-05-09 LEWIS KEITH
A switch for use with an automatic transmission drive selector lever of a road vehicle in which the contacts of the switch are arranged with sufficient clearance therebetween to avoid arcing between the contacts and permit physical mounting of the contacts while allowing the switch to be operated by a small angular movement. Thus, the switch may be mounted in the very small space available since the moving contact moves through a larger angular distance than the input member or shaft thereby enabling the fixed contacts to be easily accommodated.

An electronic control unit (ECU) and a position detection unit are disposed in separate chambers formed in a case (10). Two switch portions (SW1,SW2) are separately disposed on a first cover (20) and on the case, respectively, on opposite sides of a movable member (40) of the position detection unit, thus reducing the size of the unit. The signal-related circuit that needs to be connected to the ECU for signal transmission and the drive circuit (for starting the starter motor and turning on the reverse lamps) that does not need the connection to the ECU for signal transmission are separately disposed on the opposite sides of the movable member (40), that is, on the case (10) side and the first cover (20) side. The drive circuit is completely separated from the signal-related circuit and the ECU, thus preventing the drive circuit from electrically interfering with the signal-related circuit or the ECU. <IMAGE>
