PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture control members for operating an apparatus and diaphragms for returning the control members integrally with a front cap, by providing the movable control members integrally jointed to the front cap via one diaphragm each and causing the diaphragm/control members to act as guide devices and also as returning members. SOLUTION: One of the functions of an elastic diaphragm 30 is to move a key 20 in a direction substantially normal to a front cap 10. Another is to produce force necessary to return the key 20 back to the start position when the key 20 is released after the key 20 is operated. Mechanical resistance at operating the key 20 depends on the shape of the diaphragm 30 and on the flexibility of a material used. Advantageously, the diaphragm 30 has a U-shaped cross section. SOLUTION: A keyboard switch is composed of a cover main body portion 1 into which a key top 1a, an upper cover 1b, and a positioning boss 1c integrated by molding, a metal dome 2 which is a moving contact, a fixed contact 4 which is formed on a thin type printed board 5, a cover film 3 which covers the metal dome 2 and its periphery, an air hole 8 which is bored in the printed board, and the like. When the key top 1a is pushed down, the metal dome 2 is pushed down so as to touch the fixed contact 4 to switch on. Then, compressed air in the dome 2 escapes outward from the air hole 8 so as to obtain proper finger pressure and click feeling.
