85 WIRELESS ULTRASOUND PROBE PAIRING WITH A MOBILE ULTRASOUND SYSTEM EP16738226.6 2016-07-04 EP3322344A1 2018-05-23 BELL, Kristy; POLAND, McKee Dunn; HUNT, Alexander
A mobile ultrasound system will pair with a wireless ultrasound probe for exclusive communication between the two for an ultrasound exam when the wireless probe is brought to within a predetermined distance of the mobile ultrasound system. The ultrasound system determines that the wireless probe is within the predetermined distance from the strength of the signal received by the system from the wireless probe. Pairing can proceed automatically when a wireless probe is within the predetermined distance, or after a user actuates a control to initiate the pairing. The ultrasound system may display the identity of a probe within range on the display of the system for selection by the user so that the user will be confident that pairing will be done with the desired wireless probe.

87 CONTROLLING TRANSMISSION OF PULSES FROM A SENSOR EP13824198.9 2013-12-13 EP2936931A1 2015-10-28 PANDHARIPANDE, Ashish Vijay; CAICEDO FERNANDEZ, David Ricardo; SRINIVASAN, Sriram
A sensor such as a presence sensor for use in a lighting system or other system that adapts to information from a plurality of active presence sensors. If transmissions from the active sensors are uncoordinated, the overall detection performance may be adversely impacted (e.g. due to potential cross-interference), which may make sensing over the detection coverage area defined by a single presence sensor (or the like) become unreliable. The disclosure presents protocols for coordinating transmissions in active sensing systems. The invention may be applied to various active modalities (e.g. ultrasound, RF), for example that find applications in indoor and outdoor lighting controls.

In the device and method for generating and evaluating ultrasound signals, particularly for determining the distance of a vehicle from an obstacle, an ultrasound reception signal is received by at least one ultrasound receiver subscriber of a data bus, after a burst transmission signal comprising a plurality of ultrasound pulses and having a burst length has been transmitted by at least one ultrasound transmitter subscriber of the data bus. The ultrasound reception signal is subdivided into time sections which are substantially equal to half the burst length. The peak value for each time section of the ultrasound reception signal is transmitted via the data bus to a central control and evaluation unit. On the basis of the peak values of the reception signal for each time section, taking into account threshold value tracking, it is determined in the control and evaluation unit whether the ultrasound reception signal has time sections in which the ultrasound reception signal is greater than the tracked threshold value or equal to the tracked threshold value.

95 OBJECT DETECTING DEVICE US16082319 2017-02-15 US20190079187A1 2019-03-14 TAKASHI TSUJI
An object detecting device includes a detector and a determination unit. The detector detects presence or absence of an object based on whether a receiving unit that converts a mechanical vibration into an electric signal receives a reflected ultrasonic wave transmitted intermittently from a transmitting unit. The determination unit determines that the transmitting unit is normal when the electric signal is not detected in a determination section set within a predetermined time from a starting time point of the transmission of the ultrasonic wave. The determination unit determines that the transmitting unit is abnormal when a correlation value of waveforms of a plurality of electric signals detected in the plurality of determination sections is greater than or equal to a specified value. The determination unit determines that the transmitting unit is normal when the correlation value is less than the specified value.
