161 IMPROVED DOCK BUMPER AND METHOD OF REPLACEMENT EP14726717.3 2014-04-25 EP2989033A1 2016-03-02 SMITH, Luke
A dock bumper is provided. The dock bumper includes a housing holding a plurality of rollers arranged in an array. The plurality of rollers are arranged to absorb impact from a reversing vehicle. Upon impact, outer surfaces of the rollers are arranged to rotate relative to the frame. Consequently, scrubbing between the vehicle and dock bumper is reduced as are excess forces acting on fixings between the frame and wall. Also, a surface area at each contact location is increased as a cushioning effect is provided by rotation of the roller, thereby prolonging the operation life of the rollers. Furthermore, in one form, the dock bumper is modularised so that only worn or damaged rollers need be replaced at one time.

164 Load-actuated dock bumper assembly EP09251407.4 2009-05-28 EP2128054A1 2009-12-02 Di Biase, Joseph J.

A load-actuated dock bumper assembly for a loading dock that is displaceable along a mounting track with the vertical movement of a trailer during the loading and unloading process. The bumper assembly is comprised of a mounting bracket, a load compensating assembly housed within the mounting bracket, and a rubber bumper which is able to travel along a track on the mounting bracket. The combination of incorporating the load compensating assembly within the mounting bracket and the use of an elastically deformable strap in the load compensating assembly allows for the entire bumper assembly to maintain a low profile, thereby reducing the distance between the trailer and dock. In addition to providing a low profile, this design provides protection of the components of the bumper assembly from impact damage by trailers.

172 ANDOCKPUFFER EP04802706.4 2004-11-05 EP1692062A1 2006-08-23 OTT, Rainer; SCHMATZ, Hans
The invention relates to a docking buffer for attaching to ramps, comprising an elastic damping element (3) that is situated between two U-shaped sections (1; 2) consisting of a hard, shock-proof material. The limbs (4; 5) and (6; 7) of said sections are adjacent to one another and can be displaced in relation to one another, the limbs (4; 5) of one U-shaped section (2) converging at an angle α that deviates from 90° in relation to a base surface (9) and the limbs (6; 7) of the other U-shaped section (1) diverging at an angle β that deviates from 90° in relation to a base plate (8). The opening widths between the ends of the limbs (4; 5) and (6; 7) and the sizes of the angles α; β are selected in such a way that the limbs (4; 5) embrace the limbs (6; 7). The advantage of the invention is that it provides a docking buffer with a simple construction that is thus cost-effective to produce, said buffer affording reliable protection even during an off-centre collision. The greater width of the mobile section in relation to the fixed section creates a larger impact surface for the docking vehicle.
