62 OPEN MESH MATERIAL AND BAGS MADE THEREFROM EP10771590.6 2010-10-07 EP2486178A2 2012-08-15 FREI, Robert; HEFNER, Corbett; LANDERTSHAMER, Fritz; MUELLER, Alan
An open mesh material includes filaments (1, 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 15, 16) that intersect one another. At least some of the filaments are composite filaments having a carrier portion of a relatively high melting point and a bonding portion of a relatively low melting point, the bonding portion of each composite filament being thermally bonded to other filaments at points of intersection. The material may be a non-woven fabric that contains at least two layers of weft filaments (1, 2, 11, 12) that may be bordered on one or both sides by a layer of warp filaments (3,4, 15, 16). When compared to other open mesh materials, the open mesh material disclosed herein has a superior combination of some or all of high strength, light weight, high dimensional stability, and openness. Also disclosed herein are articles can be made at least in part from the material including L-seam bags (20), form fill and seal (FFS) bags (1020), and multi-substrate bags (2,020). Methods of making those bags also are disclosed.
63 METHOD OF OBTAINING A CONTINUOUS MESH TUBE WHICH IS USED TO PRODUCE BAGS FOR VEGETABLE AND FRUIT PRODUCTS OR SIMILAR PRODUCTS AND THE TUBE THUS OBTAINED EP02787983.2 2002-11-22 EP1454836B1 2006-07-05 ALTIMIRA FONTCUBERTA, Juan
The invention relates to a method of obtaining a continuous mesh tube which is used to produce bags for vegetable and fruit products or similar products. The invention also relates to the continuous tube obtained by means of said method. The inventive method comprises the following steps: a) moving two strips (2-2'), which have been laminated with cross-linked mesh, longitudinally and at the same speed, the transverse section of said strips taking the form of two opposing Cs; b) applying a plastic-laminated strip (6-6') to the external surface of each pair of opposing, coplanar lateral walls (15-15'); and c) joining each strip of plastic material (6-6') in a longitudinal manner to the lateral, coplanar walls (15-15') in such a way as to form a continuous tube. The tube thus obtained comprises four longitudinal strips, two plastic laminates (6-6') and two other cross-linked mesh laminates (2-2').

A knitted netting for wrapping an object is provided. When wrapping the object the knitted netting may have an indicated target elongation. The knitted netting includes first longitudinal franzes, first lateral schusses, at least two second longitudinal franzes, and at least one second lateral schuss. The schusses are knitted with the franzes to form the knitted netting. The first longitudinal franzes and the first lateral schusses are configured such that the spacing of the first longitudinal franzes decreases by less than 10% when elongating the knitted netting by 50%) of the target elongation, the target elongation being from 15% to 300% of the length of the knitted netting. The second lateral schuss is an indicator schuss. The second longitudinal franzes are indicator franzes. The indicator schuss is knitted with the indicator franzes to form an elongation indicator for indicating the amount of longitudinal stretching of the knitted netting. The elongation indicator is configured such that the spacing of the indicator franzes decreases by more than 10% when elongating the knitted netting by 50% of the target elongation. Further, a method of determining the longitudinal elongation of such a knitted netting with respect to a target elongation is provided.
