Auf der Oberseite des Taschenteils kann ein weiteres Kartenfach vorgesehen sein. Für kürzere Fahrten kann die Kartentaschen-Bodenplatte (12) ohne den voluminösen Taschenteil (10) verwendet werden. Der Taschenteil (10) kann eine zusätzliche Gurthalterung aufweisen, so daß er wahlweise auch auf einem Rücksitz des Motorrades befestigt werden kann

An apparatus useful as an instrument carrier in conjunction with a motorcycle having a fuel tank comprising: a base member (14) including a cushion element (12) adapted to be placed on the fuel tank (30) when the apparatus is secured to the fuel tank; a strap (18) associated with the base member (14) and which is capable of being wrapped around the fuel tank (30) to secure the apparatus to the fuel tank; and a top portion (16) secured to the base member (14) and with the base member forming a compartment in which at least one instrument, e.g. a sound transmitting device (60), can be placed. The top portion (16) may have a plurality of holes, and may for example be in the form of netting. The apparatus may have a further strap (20) for placing over the top portion to reduce the size of the compartment.

Zwecks Bereitstellung eines variablen Aufnahmevolumens und einer Verstellbarkeit seiner Bauhöhe hat der separate Rucksackteil eine faltbare Umfangswand (5) und ist mit Verstellmitteln (4) zur variablen Einstellung des Aufnahmevolumens versehen. Vorzugsweise bestehen die Verstellmittel (4) aus einem Reißverschluß, dessen zwei Zahnreihen in einem den gewünschten Verstellbereich erfassenden Abstand zueinander umlaufend an der faltbaren Umfangswand (5) befestigt sind.
