PURPOSE: A wheel for changing a track gauge is provided to make a train travel on another rail having a different track gauge continuously by changing a track gauge into a different track gauge easily without stopping a train. CONSTITUTION: In a wheel of a vehicle housing a railway line which has a different track gauge of a railway by forming a flange to the inside of a rim of a wheel, the wheel for changing a track gauge(100) comprises the steps of widening the width of a wheel to correspond to the track gauge changes of a rail and to house a narrow track gauge rail(210) and a wide track gauge rail(220), forming one or more end projections which partition off a rim in contact with the upper part of a rail in the shape of stairs, and forming many treads(110,120) of the rim. |

The invention relates to a novel rail (DTS dual-groove rail) which permits rail vehicles and intermodal vehicles equipped with the DTS wheel to deviate without an active point. In existing normal or vignole rails, only the inner face of the rail is actively used. Normal rail wheels travel within the two rails and are guided in various directions by active points. This is particularly apparent in tramway rails, where the outer face is directly connected to the road surface. The DTS rail has two continuous grooves on each face. The rail is also continuous. A closed Y is formed at a branch. Prior to their arrival at a rail branch, rail vehicles or intermodal vehicles equipped with the DTS wheel can decide which rail face or groove they intend to follow by correctly lowering the relevant part of the DTS wheel. in addition, each outer face of the groove forms a safety barrier to keep the DTS wheel on the rail, irrespective of which face of the DTS wheel was lowered. The DTS system consists of the novel components: a DTS divided dual-flange wheel (hereafter referred to as DTS wheel), a DTS on-board module, a DTS dual-groove rail (hereafter referred to as DTS rail) and a DTS rail information system. |

A novel rail guidance system (DTS) is described, allowing rail vehicles and dual mode vehicles to drive safely and autonomously on existing standard and Vignole rails, and to change direction without being influenced from the outside via existing switches, irrespective of the momentary switch position. The DTS exchanges a passive vehicle/active switch role for an active vehicle/passive switch role. Existing switches do not need to be converted, adapted or provided with additional guide rails. The DTS system consists of the novel components: a DTS divided dual-flange wheel (hereafter referred to as DTS wheel), a DTS on-board module, a DTS dual-groove rail (hereafter referred to as DTS rail) and a DTS rail information system. The core of the DTS system is the divided DTS wheel and the associated DTS on-board module, which can also be used alone. The DTS wheel is 100% compatible with existing railway systems. Moreover, road vehicles can be equipped with the DTS system to be combined with other vehicles into virtual trains on roads equipped with DTS rails. The DTS rail does not need to fulfil a load-carrying function. |
