A robot includes a chassis, a motive subsystem configured to maneuver the chassis, a hopping actuator attached to the chassis and configured to launch the robot, and at least one leg pivotable with respect to the chassis to pitch the chassis upward at a selected launch trajectory angle. A control subsystem automatically actuates and controls the motive subsystem when the robot is airborne and uses the rotational momentum of the motive subsystem to control the attitude of the robot chassis in flight.

3 Tireless Skid Steer Wheels US15075391 2016-03-21 US20170036482A1 2017-02-09 Derek Hird; Phil Bernardin
A tireless steel wheel for a skid steer features a cylindrical drum, a set of cleats projecting externally from the drum, a hub plate inside the drum an at intermediate location between opposing ends thereof, frustoconical walls flaring outward from opposing sides of the hub plate toward the respective ends of the drum, and annular end plates joining the wider ends of the frustotonical walls to the drum at the opposing ends thereof. The hub plate is offset from an axial center of the drum, and the frustoconical walls are unequal to one another in their angle of taper. The annular walls prevent the wheels from digging into the ground, and the frustoconical walls prevent material accumulation inside the wheels. The offset position of the hub plate provides flexible mounting options to accommodate varying dimensional characteristics of different skid steer models and bucket sizes.
4 Systems and Methods for Implementing Flexible Members Including Integrated Tools Made from Metallic Glass-Based Materials US15069381 2016-03-14 US20160263937A1 2016-09-15 Aaron Parness; Kalind C. Carpenter; Douglas C. Hofmann
Systems and methods in accordance with embodiments of the invention implement flexible members that include integrated tools made from metallic glass-based materials. In one embodiment, a structure includes: a flexible member characterized by an elongated geometry and an integrated tool disposed at one end of the elongated geometry; where the flexible member includes a metallic glass-based material.
5 Track device having wheel widening effect US404052 1995-03-14 US5556487A 1996-09-17 Bruno Collard
A track device for mounting on a pneumatic tire fitted to the wheel of a vehicle to improve the buoyancy and traction of the vehicle over very soft terrain, the pneumatic tire including a tread surface across the width of the tire, a pair of side walls and an axis of rotation. The track device includes a plurality of bridge-like longitudinal and rigid traction blades having an inside surface made to rest on the tire across the width of the tread surface and a ground engaging outside surface, the traction blades being disposed on the tire in generally closely spaced-apart and parallel relationship to form an endless track. Each traction blade includes an intermediate bridge-like portion made to conform to the general cross-sectional shape of the tire, essentially flat side portions outwardly projecting from either side of the intermediate portion and generally parallel to the axis of rotation of the tire. The side portions sufficiently project beyond the width of the tire so as to provide a widening of the wheel of at least twenty percent of the width of the tire, thereby increasing the buoyancy and traction of the vehicle over very soft and muddy. Additional side members, integral with the traction blade are adapted to rest against the side walls of the tire so as to maintain the traction blade positioned over the tire. U-shaped linking members are provided for interconnecting the traction blades so that the traction blades form a tight track around the tire.
6 Landfill compactor vehicles US467580 1983-02-17 US4530620A 1985-07-23 Bernard McCartney
A landfill compactor vehicle comprises two forward wheels and two rear wheels, each wheel having on its rim teeth having a substantially arrowhead configuration, when viewed in plan, each tooth having at least a slicing portion and a tamping portion, the teeth are arranged in a twin helical turbine pattern around the wheel rim. The disposition of the teeth pattern and the attitude of the teeth for each wheel is different to that of the other three wheels and this taken with the aforesaid arrowhead configuration of the teeth ensures a mincing action on refuse, waste and soil over which such a landfill compactor vehicle is driven.

A wheel for use on lawns or similar surfaces, particularly as a drive wheel for an autonomous ("robot") lawn mower, said wheel having a tread pattern on its outer generally circumferential surface, comprising a succession of upstanding treads extending generally parallel to the axis of the wheel and an upstanding rib in a plane intermediate opposite sides of the wheel extending outwardly so the its outer circumferential edge has a radius from the wheel axis substantially the same as the maximum radius of the treads of the tread pattern, said rib, in use, reducing side slip of the lawn care apparatus when working on a slope.

The sidewalls of adjacent upstanding treads extend in a continuous curved line between them to define a channel between the adjacent upstanding treads. This reduces clogging of the tread.

The wheel is made by moulding an inner core, providing a generally circular cap to engage with the side surface of the inner core, engaging the inner core and circular cap to form an assembly, and moulding a surface over the circumferential outer surface and at least part of said side surface of the assembly so as to cover a joint between the inner core and the circular cap to permanently engage them.
