The invention relates to a wheel rim comprising two wheel rim contours with respectively one outer rim flange (6), an outer tyre seat (5), a drop base rim (4), and an inner rim flange (7), that are respectively embodied in such a way as to receive adjacently arranged single tyres, said tyres being respectively mounted on the outer rim flanges. According to the invention, the two rim contours are joined by means of an additional central drop base rim (3), and a single tyre that extends over the central drop base rim and is supported on the two outer rim flanges (6) can be mounted instead of the two single tyres.
31 VEHICLE WHEELS EP99939555.1 1999-08-13 EP1137547A1 2001-10-04 Marambos, Frederic
This invention consists of varous tyre (1) types, which encircle the especially formatted metal rims of the wheels. Those tyres from structure they bring, at the inner part, along the perimeter, vertical, devious-parallel and diagonal opposite, symmetric or asymmetric rubber partitions with formatted edges for to be applicable in the cavities which are created by the union of the different sections of the metal rim, in order to create multiple and independent air-chambers. The basic advantages are: more safety in a case of a flat and damaged tyre, the firmness and the perfect grip against the reciprocation and deformations that great speed creates due to the increasing temperature, the easier and quicker replacement [(divided rim) Fig.10], without using expensive and heavy equipment, and last but not least the earning of time and money. Also the ecological benefits that we have, because those tyres can be made from recycling the old and unused ones. The basic concept of this invention is the creation of the inner partitions.
32 Adapter for mounting larger diameter rims US14648877 2012-12-04 US09796211B2 2017-10-24 Steven J. Fujan; Matthew J. Orvedahl; Frederick W. Loeber
A dual wheel adapter assembly for mounting dual wheel rims to a wheel hub is provided. The dual wheel adapter assembly may include a hollow cylindrical adapter, including a central bore defined by an inner surface of the adapter, a first contact surface, and a second contact surface. The dual wheel adapter assembly may also include an inboard wheel rim configured to support a tire, an outboard wheel rim configured to support a tire, and a wedge clamp configured to be coupled to the hub. The first contact surface may abut the hub and the wedge clamp may apply a compressive force to the second contact surface to couple the adapter to the hub.

36 SPLIT REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLY FOR A MOTORCYCLE US12272039 2008-11-17 US20090126841A1 2009-05-21 Rod Hunter
A tire has a first and second beads mounted on a rim. A first sidewall extends upward from the first bead to a first edge of a horizontal tread face located substantially directly above the first bead. A second sidewall extends upward from the second bead and curves toward a second edge of the tread face such that a curved tire surface is provided between the second bead and the second edge of the narrow tread face. Two tires are mounted on a rear motorcycle axle such that a gap is defined between first sidewalls of the right and left tires, and a drive extends through the gap to the axle. When the motorcycle is leaned in a curve, one of the wheels is above the ground surface, and the motorcycle is supported on the curved tire surface of the other tire.
37 Variable-diameter wheel-and-tire apparatus for motor vehicles US10189485 2002-07-08 US06615888B2 2003-09-09 Douglas B. Elkow
A wheel-and-tire apparatus has a pneumatic tire with two or more circumferential tread sections, the relative diameters of which may be adjusted to select the tread sections in contact with the road. The tire may have one or more air chambers. The apparatus facilitates selective use of tire tread designs and compositions having different performance characteristics to suit particular road conditions and vehicle operating parameters. Adjustment of tread section diameters is accomplished using tread diameter adjustment means having a source of compressed air. Sensors monitor selected operational parameters of the vehicle and transmit corresponding signals to a computer, which selects an optimal configuration of tread section diameters to suit the data from the sensors. The computer sends a corresponding signal instructing the tread diameter adjustment means to adjust the diameter of one or more tread sections as required to achieve the selected configuration of tread section diameters.
38 Model automobile rim construction US125198 1987-11-25 US4880279A 1989-11-14 Fred Flesche
A dual wheel or rim for supporting two tires in parallel for a radio-controlled automotive vehicle having an axle with a threaded end has a unitary generally hollow cylindrical body, an interior radially-extending web across the interior of the body, the web having a central aperture, ribs extending radially outwardly from the exterior of the body for reception of two tires in parallel, and a fastener engageable with the web of the body for securing the body to the threaded end of the axle of the vehicle.
39 Vehicle wheel US906614 1986-09-10 US4782876A 1988-11-08 Jaroslaw V. M. Juhan
A vehicle wheel has at least two pneumatic tires mounted side by side on a single rim. When the weight of the vehicle is applied to the wheels, the pneumatic tires are slightly deformed in the lower portion of their circumference, their facing side walls coming to bear one against the other. In the upper portion of their circumference, the pneumatic tires remain separated from one another. This provides the best possible cooperation of the pneumatic tires, completely avoiding the overheating thereof and improving the road-holding of the vehicle and the adhesion of the wheels on a slippery road surface.
