There is provided a vehicle wheel that can suppress any detachment of a sub air chamber from a well portion when a fixing member between the sub air chamber and the well portion becomes defective by any possibility. A vehicle wheel comprises a sub-air-chamber member which reduces any air column resonance of a tire and which is disposed on an outer circumference surface of a well portion of a rim. The sub-air-chamber member is fixed on the well-portion outer circumference surface, the sub-air-chamber member is covered by a cover made of a rubber from an external side, and the cover is fixed on an outer circumference surface of the rim at both sides of the sub-air-chamber member in a rim width direction.
186 TIRE AND WHEEL NOISE REDUCING DEVICE AND SYSTEM US13710242 2012-12-10 US20130098521A1 2013-04-25 Sanford Elliot FOWLER-HAWKINS
A system for dissipating sound shock waves within a vehicle tire includes a wheel upon which a tire is mounted to create an internal air chamber defined by the wheel and the tire. A flow-resistant barrier is coupled to the wheel or the tire and defines an air cavity within the internal air chamber. A porous spacer can support the barrier with respect to the tire and also can provide a flexible energy damper. The barrier comprises a material that provides an acoustical resistance to sound shock waves passing therethrough. The air cavity defined by the barrier has a volume such that air within the cavity offers relatively small impedance to the passage of shock waves through the barrier and into the air cavity. The barrier also can produce frictional heat when displaced by a shock wave, thereby converting energy of the shock wave to heat to reduce noise associated therewith.
187 MULTI-SURFACE RIM FOR ENHANCED EFFICIENCY US13655028 2012-10-18 US20130049441A1 2013-02-28 Simon Smart
Embodiments described herein provide for one or more of: (1) airflow enhancement around a rim using cusps that create virtual surfaces of air with the bike in motion, which also encourage favorable air attachment around the rim; (2) wake reduction by streamlining the airfoil around the rim using trip edges at various points of rim surface transition, which cause a laminar flow to go turbulent for enhancing the streamline effect; (3) a double rim surface, which provides an air slot between the two rim surfaces at a distance that enhances flow attachment and adds energy of air flow around the rim by moving air between areas of high and low pressure; and (4) a tubeless tire rim kit capable of converting conventional rims into tubeless ones and also promoting the sealing of the tire to the rim with minimal air pressure necessary to create the seal.
188 Vehicle wheel US11908793 2006-03-14 US07918513B2 2011-04-05 Mike Wilson
The invention concerns a vehicle wheel, in particular for passenger vehicles and motorcycles, comprising a rim for receiving a tire and a spoke unit or a wheel disc connecting the rim to the hub. The rim is made of plastic material and the spoke unit or the wheel disc of metal. The rim is connected to the spoke unit or wheel disc by form-closure and/or by force-closure of the material. The invention aims at enabling the wheel disc to be accurately positioned relative to the rim base and at providing a wheel with an attractive design. Therefore, the spoke unit, or the wheel disc are connected via at least one connecting element guided through the rim base and the connecting element is housed in the spoke unit or the wheel disc so as to be completely covered by a tire or by the spoke unit or the wheel disc.

193 Motor vehicle wheel frame US10502640 2003-01-24 US07361296B2 2008-04-22 Christian Andreas Adrian
A motor vehicle wheel frame is integrally molded in a split mold including a lower mold portion (12) and a complemental mold portion. Channel-like spoke forming formations (12.1) receive layers (24.1) of molding material wrapped around heat expanding, resilient intensifiers (20) which are inwardly checked by resilient locking inserts (22) partially within a hub cavity and abutting a cylinder (18). During demolding, after curing, the locking inserts (22) and thereafter the intensifiers (20) are removed by longitudinally stretching and cross-sectionally reducing them, leaving the spokes hollow. During curing, the heat expanding intensifiers pressurize the spoke forming layers of molding material against the mold portions.
