PURPOSE:To draw a separating pattern to the side oppsite from a molding board quickly and easily in a vacuum molding method by opening a hole in each film on the top surface of the separating pattern and acting air pressure on the bottom surface of the separating pattern to blow the pattern upward. CONSTITUTION:A film 4 on the lower side is attracted to a pattern 3 and a separating pattern 2, sand grains 5 are packed in a casting mold, a film 6 on the upper side is deposited on the rear surface of the sand grains, and the casting mold is cured under the evacuation in a casting flask 12, according to an ordinary vacuum molding method. A hole 7 having a diameter D is opened in each of the films 4, 6 on the top surface of the pattern 2. Compressed air of about several kg/cm<2> is supplied in a suction box 11 to act the air pressure on the bottom surface of the pattern 2 through an air supply hole 15 and the expanded part 16 of the air supply hole. Then, the pattern 2 is blown upward and is exposed partly or wholly from the hole 7. The operator simply draws such pattern 2 manually.

PURPOSE:To improve the moldability and parting characteristic of sand casting molds with extremely simple construction by applying negative pressure at the time of mold making and positive pressure at the time of parting to the vent hole to be buried in the concave part of the pattern forming a relatively deep pocket in the sand casting mold. CONSTITUTION:A vent hole 3 is buried in the concave part 2 of a patern 1 which forms a relatively deep pocket in the sand casting mold and a large-diameter pipe 6 which communicates at one end with this is provided on the back of a molding board 4. The large-diameter pipe 6 is inserted with a switch 7 at the other end and a small-diameter pipe 8 in its inside. First, at the time of making the mold by placing the mold on the molding board 4 and charging casting sand onto the pattern 1, the switch 7 is opened and pressure gas is fed through the pipe 8 in this direction, then the portions near the vent hole 3 of the pipe 6 assume negative pressure owing to ventury action. Hence, the casting sand is packed at high density in the concave part 2. next, at the time of parting the mold, the switch 7 is closed, then the pressure in the pipe 6 increases and the mold may be parted with eash without causing the breakage of the pocket formed in the concave part 2.

The invention relates to a method and device enabling separation of a model from a sand body which has been moulded in a matrix by means of said model. When the horizontal separation surfaces are horizontally aligned, both the model and the matrix (8, 7) can be displaced perpendicularly to said separation surfaces so as to be separated from each other. In order to allow such a relative movement, a plurality of vertically driving gears or lifting cylinders in parallel alignment are provided which are parallel to the perpendicular (20), can be actuated separately, and the lifting height of which can be adjusted individually. Effecting such a separation by means of four individually driven and lifting height-adjusted cylinders (y(t) or electric drives enables the (horizontal) separation surfaces of both the matrix and the model to be kept strictly parallel during the separation process, with no movement perpendicular to the normal line.
