7 Method and apparatus for forming metal frames for reinforced concrete EP03014545.2 2003-07-04 EP1378302A3 2004-09-15 Miglioranza, Aronne

A method for forming metal frames for reinforced concrete comprises picking in succession individual stirrups (12) having a closed or open profile at a front input region (E), and transferring each individual stirrup (12) from the input region (E) by way of grip means (51) that can move along a longitudinal direction. The picked stirrup (12) is transferred to welding means (80) associated with traction means (74) that can move along the longitudinal direction. At least one longitudinal auxiliary rod (11) is fixed externally to each bracket (12) and is retained by the welding means (80). At the same time, the welding means (80) are moved alternately into a forward position, by the actuation of the traction means (74), in order to produce the stepwise traction of the auxiliary rod (11) and of the stirrups (12) during coupling thereto by the welding means (80), so as to form an intermediate lattice (10) for the final production of a frame. The invention also relates to an apparatus for forming metal frames.

The apparatus comprises a frame, a rotatable barrel, wire separators, alignment fingers, a clipping rack further comprising pincers, and a clipping gun. The barrel, wire separators and fingers cooperate to attach the alternate loops together at desired points. The barrel is driven by a stepper motor to rotate a specific distance about a central axis. The wire separators, pincers, and clipping gun are driven pneumatically. The motor and pneumatics are controlled electronically.
11 Harness making apparatus US515481 1974-10-17 US3930524A 1976-01-06 John W. Tarbox
An apparatus for the orderly dispensing of wire to form a harness, comprising a strand pay out head which is moved by an automated control unit in two dimensions over a layout table having strategically positioned pegs and wire gripping elements thereon such that the wire is engaged in one of the gripping elements, entrained around certain of the pegs, secured in another of the gripping elements and cut, the entire process being performed repeatedly and automatically to lay all of the wires of the particular harness in the required configuration. The wire pay out head has a swivel mounted feed unit which receives wire from a continuous source and ordinarily the end of the wire projects slightly from the feed and is automatically retained by any of the gripping elements upon the passage therethrough of the feed unit, subsequent to which a knife on the pay out device cuts the wire if such is required for the harness being made.
