81 INVERTING TOY VEHICLE PLAYSET EP02775887.9 2002-09-19 EP1436053A1 2004-07-14 SHELTMAN, David, A.; REALE, John
A continuous loop toy vehicle trackset (11) supports a booster (30) and a plurality of toy vehicles (40 and 50). The trackset is formed of spaced apart track rails forming a gap (15) therebetween. The toy vehicles are open wheeled and able to roll upon the track rails in either a right side up or inverted configuration. In the inverted configuration, the top surface of the toy vehicle is able to extend into the gap between the track rails. A staging lane (37) facilitates introduction of additional toy vehicles to the trackset (11).
82 OPTOELECTRIC REMOTE CONTROL APPARATUS FOR GUIDING TOY VEHICLES EP98944631 1998-08-31 EP1027116A4 2002-08-21 CYRUS PETER; MAKSYMUK PETER M IV; FERNEKES LEO M; RUBLOWSKY STEFAN; KOGAN EDUARD; KOLB SCOTT J; MOORE ERIC S; YAVID DMITRIY; COSENTINO CHRISTOPHER S
The present invention is a control apparatus for guiding toy vehicles (12, 14) on a roadway. Preferably, a remote control hand unit (120) is employed that is most preferably optoelectric. The hand unit includes a plurality of direction keys (124) that transmit signals from the hand unit based on their electronic interconnection with an infrared LED (128) and a laser transmitter (130) in the hand unit. The hand unit transmits directional commands to control movement of a toy vehicle through the intersection (82) of a roadway. These control commands are transmitted via a modulated infrared signal that is received by an infrared sensor adjacent the roadway. Additionally, the hand unit transmits a location laser signal to one of many reception points, i.e., laser detectors (116), located adjacent each road at an intersection.
83 MINIATURE RACING COURSE EP96935769.0 1996-10-10 EP0802818A1 1997-10-29 Kovacic, Mitja
The miniature racing course solves the problem of automatic devices for racing games, primarily in public places and against advance payment. The racing course (1) is equipped with at least one, two, three or more racing lanes (4) for model cars (6) which are operated by remote controls (10) and with optical measuring instruments (7) at the start and at the finish and with at least one parking box (3) for parking model cars (6). The racing course (1) can have one or more side lanes (2), with one, two, three or more side tracks (5). However, it can also be constructed without the side lane, on which the construction of the parking box (3) depends. If the side lane (2) does exist, the parking box (3) is placed directly on it and if the side lane does not exist, the parking box (3) is constructed above and below the racing course (1). In this case the racing course is separated in this place so that the legs of the dropping parts (1') are connected with the track section (13) linked to the bottom of the supporting safety bottom (12). The miniature racing course is activated by means of an automatic activating device (8) against advance payment. The intermediate results, the number of circles covered and the time spent as well as the final results with the appropriate order of competitors are visible on an information board (9).

85 A control unit for electric toy cars, with simulation of tire replacement EP92112642.1 1992-07-23 EP0525658A1 1993-02-03 Magnoni, Maurizio

The car track has two runways (7a,9a) for connection to an electric power supply (27), and a passage detector (33) for each runway. On the control panel (1), there are two tire selection switches (17a,17b) with at least two setting positions, and tire replacement acknowledge switches (24a,24b). For each runway, there are provided a supply voltage regulator (25), two counters driven by the passage detector (33), one (29) for the total lap number and one (31) for the partial lap number, and circuitry means (25,35) adapted for setting a first supply voltage whose value is set by the switch position (17a,17b), and a second supply voltage, much lower than the first, which is applied upon the partial lap counter (31) reaching its limit count. The simulation is based on that the choice of hard tires entails a lower average speed, but a less frequent replacement of the tires, and the choice of soft tires entails a higher average speed but a more frequent tire replacement.

92 Interactive intelligent toy and components for use in and with such a toy EP09178574.1 2009-12-09 EP2241359A3 2013-10-30 Hornsby, James; Benson, Marcellus; McGowan, Joseph; Reynolds, Michael

The present invention is directed to an interactive intelligent toy that provides the appearance and experience of a person, animal, vehicle, or other character moving in, and/or interacting with, its environment or habitat on its own. In one embodiment, a motive component simulating the appearance of a person, animal, vehicle or other character comprises a drive mechanism to move the motive component, a control mechanism and a power source. The control mechanism is programmed to monitor and detect user and event inputs, and to detect and decode embedded codes in a pathway component and perform predetermined actions or generate predetermined sounds in response to the inputs and codes. In another embodiment, the motive component engages with a coupling component and supplies the drive mechanism and power source for moving both the motive component and the coupling component. In yet another embodiment, the motive component is adapted to perform certain actions upon contact with, or becoming in proximity to, an auxiliary component. The invention therefore provides a simulated character that appears to have a mind of its own in operating within a certain environment.

Given that the intelligent element is able to supply the means (drive mechanism, control mechanism and power source) to enable other elements to perform actions, the cost of the toy can be minimized while providing a large variety of different activities and the ability to expand to new environments and activities.
