PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving unit that reduces power consumption, and also to provide a display apparatus having the same. SOLUTION: The driving unit reduces the power consumption, and the display apparatus has the same. In the driving unit and display apparatus, a data driver is equipped with: a data processor which converts the image data into a data voltage; and a switching circuit which receives the data voltage and a common voltage swinging at a predetermined period and selects and outputs at least one of the common voltage and the data voltage. The timing controller outputs the switching signal at a time point in a first half period of a transition period of the common voltage. The switching circuit outputs the common voltage at the time point in response to the switching signal. Transition time of the data voltage is then substantially reduced, and thereby current consumption of the driving unit is substantially reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cross-talk by suppressing variation of voltage drop which is produced in an output buffer.
SOLUTION: The output buffer 300 corresponding to each row of a pixel circuit 600 arranged in matrix is a CMOS inverter in which a p-type transistor 303 and an n-type transistor 304 are connected in series. The output buffer 300 includes a potential compensation circuit 320 between the p-type transistor 303 and an output node 309. As a drive current supplied to a light emitting element 604 in a light emitting period flows in the output buffer 300, voltage drop is produced by electric resistances of the p-type transistor 303 and the potential compensation circuit 320. In this case, the potential compensation circuit 320 suppresses potential change of the output node 309 by changing a value of the electric resistance of the potential compensation circuit 320 according to a value of the driving current. Thereby, difference of the output potential of each row is reduced, and the cross-talk is reduced.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take measures against variation in threshold voltage of a switching element.
SOLUTION: The electrooptical device has a storage part and a timer part which finds a time of electrification to the electrooptical device, and stores results obtained by previously measuring threshold voltages of the switching element corresponding to the time of electrification to the electrooptical device in the storage part. A first voltage as a voltage applied to a gate terminal of the switching element to turn on the switching element is applied up to a first point of time when a voltage value of a pixel electrode gets saturated and the time of electrification from the current point is found from the timer part; and a threshold voltage of the switching element corresponding to the time of electrification is found from the storage part and one or more kinds of voltages which are lower than the first voltage and higher than the voltage obtained by subtracting the threshold voltage from the first voltage are applied to the gate terminal.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
