CONSTITUTION: A flexible cable(2) has one end connected to a control unit. A flexible cover(3) embeds the flexible cable. At least one flexible cable is formed of a shape memory material of which shape changes to control a controlled unit. The cover is coated with elastomer or a synthetic material. The cover is mounted by a support structure fixed to displace vertically. If an actuator moves in opposite directions, the cover is used as a transmission element. A shape-memory cable is deformed by heating. When the shape-memory cable is activated, the shape-memory cable returns to a residual position by elastic returning.

CONSTITUTION: An adjusting mechanism of a cable(54) for a manual transmission comprises a lever pin(52), a guide(60), a slide clip(70), and a fixing device. The lever pin moves integrally with a shift lever(50). The guide is connected with the cable for transmitting the operating force of the shift lever to move integrally with the cable and composed of a guide hole(62) through which the lever pin passes to move toward the longitudinal direction of the cable, formed in the center, a plurality of teeth(64) formed in the guide hole in the longitudinal direction of the cable, and guide rails(66) formed at both sides. The slide clip includes a boss through which the lever pin passes, formed at the side opposite to the guide hole; a fitting projection inserted between the teeth in the penetration direction of the lever pin at the outer periphery of the boss; and a guide piece movably combined to the guide rail at the height that the fitting projection and teeth are mutually separated at the side opposite to the guide rail and hung to the end of the guide by elastic force when the fitting projection is inserted into the teeth. The fixing device is combined to the end of the lever pin passing through the boss of the slide clip to constrain the separation of the slide clip and the lever pin.

Engagement holes 5b and 5c are formed at the lower edge part of the lever 5, and a ball 25 which is energized by a spring 23 is set at a hollow part of a coupling shaft 22. The ball 25 engages the hole 5b or 5c to form a click stop to perform the positioning of the lever 5. When the lever 5 is pulled up, a plate 30 engages an engagement groove 32. At the same time, the ball 25 engages the hole 5c to hold the positioning mode.
