151 Change speed apparatus for a tractor US09520707 2000-03-07 US06397693B1 2002-06-04 Tomeo Umemoto; Masatoshi Iwamoto
A change speed apparatus for a tractor includes a main change speed device (24) having a combination of gear trains mounted on a first shaft and a second shaft extending parallel to each other, for driving a change speed output shaft (58) at a plurality of speeds, and a backward and forward drive switching device (21) cooperable with the main change speed device (24) to produces forward drive and backward drive in an equal number of speeds. Between the main change speed device (24) and the backward and forward drive switching device (21), the forward drive is transmitted through the first shaft (45) and the backward drive is transmitted through the second shaft (44). With this construction, a group of gears for returning reversed drive to a forward drive transmission shaft is omitted from the backward and forward drive switching device (21). Consequently, the backward and forward drive switching device has a reduced fore and aft length, and thus the entire change speed apparatus also has a reduced fore and aft length.
152 Motor vehicle gearbox US142136 1998-09-02 US5974905A 1999-11-02 Anders Hedman
A motor vehicle gearbox with two concentrically mounted input shafts, each driving an individual layshaft, having gears in engagement with gears on an output shaft. One layshaft has a central synchronizing device, by means of which the layshaft, which is driveably coupled to the momentarily non-driven input shaft, can be accelerated up to a rotational speed determined by the selected gear speed. The central synchronization device has a friction clutch and two synchronization gears, one of which is wider than the other and is lockable to the shaft with the aid of an engaging sleeve, so that driving torque can be transmitted via the synchronization gear.
153 Wide range manual transmission for motor vehicles US161617 1993-12-06 US5390559A 1995-02-21 Steven G. Thomas; David A. Janson
A multiple-speed ratio transmission mechanism for an automotive vehicle includes a torque input shaft, an output shaft, an intermediate shaft, these three shafts rotatably supported on a common axis, and a countershaft mounted parallel to the other shafts. Multiple pinion-gear pairs are supported on the three coaxial shafts and countershaft. A planetary gear unit, including a sun gear, ring gear, and a set of planet pinions rotatably supported on a carrier, has its input connected to the intermediate shaft and the output connected to the output shaft. Synchronizers drivably connect a member of the pinion-gear pairs to one of the shafts. A shift mechanism transmits motion of a shift lever to shift forks that move synchronizer sleeves into engagement with the selected gear.

The other modules can include a front wheel drive module, a supplemental reduction module, and an intermediate module. The intermediate module can include additional ranges and/or a creeper gear. The entire structure is highly flexible, and allows ready construction of a transmission to meet a particular customer's needs out of standard components which can be produced in mass quantities.
155 Mechanism for synchronized shifting of a transmission using couplers US129564 1987-12-07 US4856375A 1989-08-15 Rudolf Beim
A tractor transmission includes a pair of dual power clutches that connects an engine to an input shaft through a gearset that selectively makes a direct connection or overdrives the input shaft in accordance with the stat of the clutches. Two nonsynchronized couplers connect the input shaft in accordance with the movement of the gear shift lever by the vehicle operator to high speed and low speed forward gear ratios and to a reverse drive mechanism. Hydraulically actuated disk clutches located in the driveline between the couplers and the drive wheels are selectively operated to transmit power through a multiple speed ratio gearset. A friction clutch or torque converter transmits power from the power source to the input of the dual power clutches. A hydraulically-actuated brake holds a gear and countershaft, located between the couplers and the dual power clutches. A clutch pedal is depressed by the operator.
156 Vehicular transmission shift mechanism US785468 1985-10-08 US4793202A 1988-12-27 Kiyokazu Okubo
A vehicular transmission with a main speed change mechanism that has plural speeds and a sub speed change mechanism for establishing a very low speed. Shift forks for selectively changing gear trains mounted on shift fork shafts with the sub speed shift fork mounted on the same shaft as the shift fork for the lowest speed of the main speed change mechanism. The shift fork shafts supported on one end by the transmission case and on the other end by the clutch case. A lever forms part of the sub speed change mechanism and is pivotally mounted on the transmission case by a pivot pin installed from the outside of the transmission case.
157 Vehicular transmission with additional low speed US785461 1985-10-08 US4682516A 1987-07-28 Kiyokazu Okubo
A vehicle transmission that has a main multi-speed gear change mechanism is provided with a sub speed gear change mechanism particularly useful for four wheel drive vehicles. The main gear change mechanism has parallel input and output shafts with the various gears and the sub speed gear change mechanism has an intermediate shaft and counter shaft parallel to the input and output shafts. An input gear on the intermediate shaft continually meshes with a gear on the input shaft and an output gear continually meshes with a gear on the output shaft. A gear reduction train and synchronizing mechanism selectively connects the input and output gears to establish that sub speed gear. The intermediate and counter shafts do not extend beyond the input and output shafts therefore minimizing the length of the transmission. The gear selecting mechanism allows selection of the sub speed only when the vehicle is in four wheel drive.
