101 Process for the production of amino silicate compounds and their resinous products US840557 1977-10-11 US4096118A 1978-06-20 David H. Blount
Amino silicate compounds are produced by the chemical reaction of a fine granular silica with amino compounds in the presence of a strong alkali at a suitably elevated temperature, and then the amino silicate compounds are reacted with aldehydes to produce resinous products.

Process for the production of film forming synthetic resins for hair fixative compositions by reacting a methylolated 5,5-dialkylhydantoin containing 1-5 carbon atoms in each alkyl group at an elevated temperature in the presence of a bifunctional acid amide and/or amine. Hair fixative compositions containing 2-10% by weight of the resin product as the major or sole resin compound.

R,(H2N-)NAPHTHALENE

WHERE R MAY BE AMINO IN ANY OPEN RING POSITION OF HYDROXYL IN THE 2, 5 AND 8 RING POSITIONS WHEN THE AMINO GROUP IS IN THE 1 POSITION, TO ONTAIN AN AMINE-MODIFIED POLYMER, WHEN THE RESULTING REACTION PRODUCT IS BLENDED WITH AN APPROPRIATE CURING AGENT, SUCH AS AN ALDEHYDE, THE COMPOSITIONS CURE VERY RAPIDLY AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, WHEN PIECES OF WOOD OR OTHER MATERIALS ARE SPACED WITH THE PREFERRED ADHESIVES EMPLOYING THE RESIN COMPOSITIONS OF THIS INVENTION AND BROUGHT INTO CONTACT WITH ANOTHER WOOD SURFACE THE BOND STRENGTH DEVELOPS WITHIN MINUTES. THE DURABILITY, STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILITY OF THE ADHESIVES OF THIS INVENTION UNDER ADVERSE WEATHERING CONDITIONS ARE EXCELLENT.
DESCRIBED HEREIN ARE REACTION PRODUCTS HAVING PARTICULAR UTILITY AS RAPID CURING ADHESIVES FOR WOOD AND OTHER MATERIALS, AND PROCESS FOR MAKING THE RESIN COMPOSITIONS. THE PRODUCTS ARE MADE BY REACTING AN ALDEHYDE CONDENSATION POLYMER HAVING REACTIVE ALKYLOL GROUPS, SUCH AS A PHENOL-FORMALDEHYDE CONDENSATION POLYMER, WITH AN AMINOAPHTHALENE HAVING THE FORMULA:
