CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula II is prepared by reacting the halogenobenzene of formula I (X is halogen) with chlorosulfuric acid in a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent (e.g. carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, 1,2-dichloroethane, etc.) in the presence of an alkali metal sulfate of formula Y
2 SO
4 (Y is sodium or potassium) (e.g. sodium sulfate and potassium sulfate) at 20W 100°C, preferably 40W80°C for 1W5hr. The amounts of chlorosulfuric acid and alkali metal sulfate are ≥2mol and 0.1W1mol per 1mol of the compound of formula I , respectively.
