A treating bath having a pH higher than about 8 (preferably, 10 to 14) is used to treat a color photographic material of silver halide after the exposure in the presence of an image silver and a main color developing agent. Incidentally, a solvent of silver halide such as potassium thiosulfate or thiourea is preferably used in addition.
