CONSTITUTION: Sewage to be treated is supplied to the inflow side tank 13 of the sewage treating tank 11 provided to the front stage of an anaerobic tank 23 from a sewage supply route 35 and downwardly passed through the upper part 19 of the tank. During this time, the org. substance in sewage is decomposed by an anaerobic microorganism formed to a packing material 17 and BOD is removed by denitrification reaction. In the next step, sewage is upwardly passed through the upper part 19 of an outflow side tank and sent into a standing tank 16 while flooded from a flooding weir 15. Released sludge or SS passing through the packing material 17 is precipitated in the standing tank 16 and the outflow of SS to the post-stage sewage treating tank 11 is prevented. Similar treatment is also applied in the post-stage sewage treating tank 11 and sewage after treatment is supplied to the sewage treating tank 11 by a supply route 26.
