The mixture is further mixed with a stirrer 11A, the BOD components in the waste water are removed biologically and the org. nitrogen compd. are decomposed to form ammoniacal nitrogen. Then, the water to be treated is introduced into a nitration tank 12 and aerated by an aeration means 12A to oxidize ammoniacal nitrogen in the water to nitrate nitrogen and the BOD component is decomposed biologically by the activated sludge and removed.
