PREPARATION: For example, cow's milk is fermented using Yeast kefir (Russian type YK-1) and the resultant product is freeze dried to prepare p-dery kefir. The resultant powdery kefir is extracted using 10mM sodium phosphate buffer solution (pH7.0) and the extracted solution is subjected to gel filtration to collect an active fraction. The obtained active fraction is then subjected to ion-exchange chromatography using a weak anion-exchange column resin and the adsorbates are eluted using 50mM NaCl. The eluted fraction is concentrated and then subjected to gel filtration, thus obtaining the objective interferon-β production promoter having 550000-650000 molecular weight.
