2 Zipwire Trolley Braking US15067742 2016-03-11 US20160355197A1 2016-12-08 Kevin Brown
A zipwire trolley having a plurality of zipwire engaging rollers, a swivelable brake block assembly adjacent to one of the rollers, the brake block having a zipwire-engaging cam by which the roller can be at least partially lifted off the zipwire when the trolley is moving in a rearward direction, the cam having a pair of tapered sidewalls tending to pinch respectively opposite sides of the upper part of the zipwire as the brake block progressively rotates when the trolley is moving in a rearward direction, thereby preventing or inhibiting further rearward movement of the trolley.
3 Backward Motion Stop US12182875 2008-07-30 US20090031914A1 2009-02-05 Andreas Hahn; Stefan Eberhardt
A backward motion stop for a car to be pulled up in a guiding device is provided and consists of a catch lever engaging in a catch rail such that it operates noiselessly. For this purpose, an induction strut is laid parallel to the catch rail and the catch lever is equipped with a magnet interacting with the induction strut so that a linear eddy current brake is formed, which exercises a slight braking force counteracting the upward motion of the car upon the catch lever, which, because of the torque linked therewith, is moved out of the catch rail, so that it essentially floats over the catch rail.
4 Safety apparatus for an inclined hoist system US36498773 1973-05-29 US3805923A 1974-04-23 BAKER T
A safety apparatus for an inclined hoist system of the type having wheeled cars operable on a pair of tracks. A guide mount is mounted on the ties between the tracks and has a guide thereon which includes wooden members extending in the direction of travel of the car and providing lateral flanges. Guide shoes are fixed to and depend from the car and provide flange portions which project under the lateral flanges of the guide. Safety catches depend from the car adjacent the guide shoes and are aligned with continuous surfaces provided by the wooden guide, and a device which is responsive to a runaway condition of the car, is adapted to turn the safety catches into engagement with the wooden surfaces whereby gouging of the wooden members by teeth on the safety catches provides a braking effect. The invention has particular use in shafts with inclines of 20* to 45* for which a satisfactory safety apparatus does not presently exist.
