The two opposite jaws (7, 8; 19; 22; 23, 24) are placed on the inside of each their respectively first (5) and second legs (6) of the U-shaped frame and are exerting a clamping force on an inserted shoe. Furthermore, the frictional force between the shoe and the jaws contributes to holding the shoe. In the preferred embodiment at least one of the jaws is a brush. The shoe holder advantageously keeps shoes hung on e.g. a wall so that they do not take up any floor space.
