PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate and acquire height of only an irregularity defect by subtracting only a portion of an irregularity mark even when the irregularity defect exists so as to overlap on the irregularity mark.SOLUTION: In a tire shape inspection method for inspecting a shape defect of a sidewall surface of an inspection tire by using an image of a sample tire having a sidewall surface on which an irregularity mark is formed, the following processes are executed. First, as a teaching operation process, the boundary of the irregularity mark is detected, a mask image showing the boundary is generated, an area corresponding to the boundary shown in the mask image is removed from a sample original image of the sample tire, and a height offset image representing height of the remaining area by one or a plurality of offset values is generated in the sample original image. Next, as an inspection operation process, the height offset image is subtracted from an inspection image of the inspection tire, a boundary area represented by the mask image is simultaneously removed, and a shape defect of the sidewall surface of the inspection tire is inspected on the basis of an obtained irregularity removed image.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve stability and riding comfortableness during cornering without losing stability at the time of straight advancing by forming a ridge line for forming an outward projecting part in a connecting point of a tire fattress part and a side wall part. SOLUTION: A fattress part 5 directly below the end of a tread part 4 has a recessed outer surface, and a ridge line 6 for forming an outward projecting part is provided in a connecting point of the recessed outer surface and outer surface 3 of a side wall part. Thus, by clearly separating the curved surface of the fattress part 5 from the curved surface of the side wall part 3, rigidity is reduced during cornering without reducing the rigidity of a tire at the time of straight advancing. Also, the curvature radius RB of a fattress recessed region is set in the range of 20 to 45% of the curvature radius Rsh of a tread shoulder part. If this value is lower than 20%, the rigidity of the tire is excessively reduced causing the deterioration of straight advance traveling performance and thus so-called drifting occurs. On the other hand, if the value exceeds 45%, rigidity at the time of straight advancing is excessively increased.

With this arrangement, the outer surface of a discontinuous part in the tire internal structure may have a large thickness while the outer surface therearound may have a small thickness so that shearing strain due to tire deformation in the discontinuous part in the tire internal structure is made to be less, thereby it is possible to enhance the durability of the tire.
