2 System and method for packing spoked wheels for a human-powerable vehicle US14544975 2015-03-11 US09440486B1 2016-09-13 Bert Vermeulen
A system for packing a human-powerable vehicle uses an inner annular module that can be incorporated into a wheel. The inner annular module has a open central region, attachment points for steel spokes in tension that radiate out from the annular module, and a feature to facilitate the detachable attachment of a hub by a user, so that a user detachable hub can be installed in the open central region when the annular module is used as part of a vehicle wheel. Removal of the hub facilitates the placement of the module over the axle of a second wheel. The attachment points for the spokes that radiate outward are in a circular configuration that is concentric with the center of the annular module. The attachment points for the spokes are on two parallel planes.

4 DEVICE FOR HANDLING TIRES US15444154 2017-02-27 US20170259617A1 2017-09-14 Darcy Goossen
There is provided a device for handling tires having an anchor for attaching to a prime mover and a clamping device rotatably mounted to the anchor that rotates relative to the anchor about a rotation axis. The clamping device has a plurality of engagement members connected by a mechanical linkage and a carrying body with a plurality of guides. The weight distribution of the clamping device is balanced about the rotation axis. Each guide carries one of the engagement members and is oriented to allow the engagement members to move perpendicular to the rotation axis between clamping and release positions. The mechanical linkage includes a rotating actuator and controls movement of the engagement members along the guides. The movement of each engagement member is rotationally symmetric about the rotation axis relative to the movement of the other engagement members. The device has an actuator that actuates the mechanical linkage.
5 Wheel Handler US13969500 2013-08-16 US20140050554A1 2014-02-20 Frank Soto
A wheel handler for handling a wheel in a confined space, the wheel handler comprising: a connector for connecting the wheel handler to a drive vehicle; and a handling device that in use is adapted to support the wheel, wherein at least a portion of the handling device is moveable in a lateral direction relative to the connector such that a wheel supported by the handling device is moved in a lateral direction relative to the connector.

The invention relates to a wheel lifting device for handling wheels, where the device comprises a transport frame (1) provided with means for moving the wheel lifting device along a surface and wherein the transport frame further comprises a raising bar (7) mounted to the frame (1) and extending vertically upwards from the frame (1), and a lifting unit (9) mounted to the raising bar (7) for sliding upwards and downwards along the raising bar (7), where the lifting unit (9) comprises at least three elongated bars (8) extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the raising bar (7), and wherein the distance between each elongated bar (8) introduces a gap for supporting a standing wheel. The invention greatly facilitates the process of aligning the wheel while lifting, whereby mounting holes in the rim are aligned to bolts in the hub, a process that can often be quite difficult and cumbersome.

The present invention relating to a carriage kit for loading tires, comprises: a support plate (100) having a rectangular parallelepiped shape with the front, back and upper surfaces open, and forming an accommodation space (150) on an inner side for loading the tires; a cover plate (200) positioned on the inner side of the accommodation space (150), for sliding up and down, pressing the tires and covering them; an elevating cylinder installed at a reinforcing bar (140) forming the back surface of the support plate (100), for elevating or lowering the cover plate when moving forward or backward; a movement plate (400) for moving forward or backward on the inner side of the accommodation space (150) and pushing the accommodated tires; and a forward or backward movement cylinder (500) arranged at the reinforcing bar (140) forming the back surface of the support plate (100), for making the moving plate move forward or backward. The present invention enhances the workability related to the carriage of the tires by carrying a plurality of loaded and stored tires via a forklift truck, not manually, and then loading the tires on a container via the forward or backward movement cylinder; and additionally facilitates the carriage by a vehicle by making the tires form one body within the container via an expansion force caused by a proprietary force when loaded in the container; and maintaining a stable loading state.
