81 | Method and installation for folding a textile strip length, in particular a strip length for a label | US10220971 | 2002-09-06 | US06805661B2 | 2004-10-19 | Bernhard Engesser |
A method for folding a textile strip length, including the steps of first holding the strip length firmly close to an auxiliary folding edge whose direction is parallel to a definitive folding edge, folding a part of the strip around the auxiliary folding edge substantially perpendicular to the plane of the strip length to form a definitive fold, gripping an end of the part of the strip folded around the auxiliary folding edge, compressing the part of the strip against a clamping surface arranged substantially co-planar with the plane of the strip length and belonging to a clamping element forming the definitive fold, and smoothing and fixing the folded part of the strip lying substantially in the plane of the strip length between the clamping surfaces arranged substantially in the plane of the strip length.

There is disclosed a method and apparatus for making a looped label and accumulating labels in a stack. An intermediate portion of the label is inserted into the nip of a pair of rotating rolls which fold or loop the label into two side-by-side or face-to-face label portions. The looped label is transported between the nip of a pair of pressing rolls which press or iron the label at the fold line while the label is stationary between the rolls to maintain the label in the folded condition. From there the label is passed into a stacker in which successively looped labels are stacked.

An apparatus and method for producing a succession of self-adhesive labels carried on a length of release material is provided in which a succession of images are digitally printed on a self-adhesive web, the web is die cut to form a succession of self-adhesive labels on a length of release material, and the web is adhered to the backing of release material between the printing and die-cutting steps, so that during the printing step different images can be printed in alternation on the web, and the web can be folded.

A method of manufacturing an extended content booklet label. A multi-up book includes folds that are parallel to the book's spine. The multi-up book is disposed on the label web and held in place by an overlaminate. The overlaminate, book log and labels are all pre-trimmed in the longitudinal direction. The web is moved passed cutting elements to progressively slit the web and trim the major web into minor webs in which the overlaminate, booklets and labels are trimmed in the width direction to have a common edge.
