A handle system ( 100 ) for finishing tools used to finish wallboard, comprises : an elongate handle body ( 102 ) having a cross - sectional shape corresponding substantially to the shape of a tear drop;and a pivoting connector ( 103 ) assembly connected to said elongate handle body for connection to a finishing tool. Alternatively, the handle system comprises: a brake assembly ( 110 ) for controlling the position of a finishing tool, said brake assembly including a brake acutator ( 1129 for receiving user input and a brake linkage operative with said brake actuator; and an elongate handle body ( 102 ) defining a first channel therin for movably receiving said brake linkage therin for controlling pivoting of a connected finishing tool relative to said elongate handle body in response to user input; said elongate handle body further defining a second channel therin for allowing mastic to flow within said elongate handle body.
112 | FINISHER SYSTEM | EP11726562.9 | 2011-06-01 | EP2576940A1 | 2013-04-10 | CASTAGNETTA, David, J.; JUNGKLAUS, Matthew, W.; SOMERS, Charles, C. |
The present disclosure describes a finisher system for finishing joints, seams or gaps in wallboard. According to an example embodiment, the finisher system comprises a finisher for dispensing mastic onto wallboard and an adapter configured for pivotally connecting the finisher to a handle. The finisher and adapter are cooperatively configured to substantially prevent sliding motion of the finisher relative to the adapter, and to ensure appropriate registration and orientation of the finisher relative to the adapter. A fluid communication path is defined within the adapter, allowing mastic to flow through the adapter. A pivot pin enables a first portion of the adapter to pivot relative to a second portion of the adapter, and defines a bore therein that permits mastic to flow through the pivot pin and between the adapter's first and second portions. The adapter is configured for attachment to a handle having a substantially tear drop shaped cross- section.
