A wire mesh rivet (13) is provided which is used to produce a wire mesh isolator (11) in a bore (9) of a substrate such as a heat shield (7) for a vehicle exhaust system. The rivet (13) comprises a unitary wire mesh structure (19) which has a collar (15) and a shank (17). The collar (15) has a higher density than the shank (17), e.g., the collar (15) has the density of the finished isolator (11). The rivet (13) is formed into the finished isolator (11) by compressing the shank (17) to form a second collar, while restraining the original collar (15) from substantially changing its shape. The rivet (13) can include a metal insert (23) which prevents the wire mesh of the finished isolator (11) from experiencing high levels of compression when the substrate is fastened to its supporting structure. The rivets (13) can be carried by a dispensing strip (31) and can be formed into the finished isolator (11) using forming equipment (39) whose dimensions are compatible with the limited space available with some substrates.

13 Net-like body bending device JP2000014749 2000-01-24 JP2001205381A 2001-07-31 YAMAMOTO TAKESHIGE; SAKATA RIKIZO
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a net-like body bending device capable of substantially shortening the set time of a net-like body without the need of the process of the inverting operation of the net-like body in the manufacture of the closed basket of wire netting or reinforcing bars. SOLUTION: This net-like body bending device is composed of a net-like body bending mechanism 5 for bending the net-like body and a net-like body pressing mechanism 6 for pressing the net-like body from the above at the time of bending the net-like body through a net-like body mounting table 15 at the upper part of the bending mechanism. For the net-like body bending mechanism 5, a pair of bending dies 7a and 7b extended in a direction orthogonal to the send-in direction of the net-like body are made to parallelly face each other and provided turnably in a bending direction and one bending die 7b is for performing closing. The net-like body pressing mechanism 6 is provided with a vertically movable net-like body pressing member 16 extended in the direction orthogonal to the send-in direction of the net-like body. For the net-like body pressing member 16, one end is horizontally turnably pivoted and the other end is supported so as to be freely taken in and out by a supporting member 18. COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform bending of a reinforcing bar net. SOLUTION: Relating to a reinforcing bar net bending device that a supporting shaft part 6 for freely supporting a reinforcing bar net 1 is arranged in a state in which it is placed at one face side of the reinforcing net 1 where plural reinforcing bars S are provided in proximity in a lattice arrangement and a bending shaft part 7 to be freely bended is arranged by turning-driving around the supporting shaft part 6 from the other face side of the reinforcing bar net 1 so as to apply moment force to the reinforcing bar net 1, at least one shaft part of the supporting shaft part 6 or the bending shaft part 7 is formed into plural devided shaft parts 6A to be freely arranged corresponding to a reinforcing bar pitch of the reinforcing bar net 1 in its longitudinal direction, the reinforcing bar net 1 is freely loaded/unloaded through the clearance between respective divided shaft parts 6A. 15 Method for forming thin sheet-like member into cylindrical shape JP3048683 1983-02-25 JPS59156516A 1984-09-05 TANAKA SHIGETO
PURPOSE:To form a cylinder for a screen photosensitive body, etc. with high accuracy by winding a sheet-like member on a mold core by using a pressing roller of which the diameter is increased from the center toward both ends. CONSTITUTION:A pressing roller 8 is so formed as to have the diameter increasing gradually from the center toward both ends to make the curve 8b thereof parabolic in forming a cylinder for a screen photosensitive body, etc. Such roller 8 is placed on a mold core connecting part 6 and a mold core 7 is rotated. The roll 8 acts to pull the thin sheet of a screen photosensitive body 1 to both sides thus winding the sheet 1 on the mold core 7. The less shiff sheet is thus wound on the cylinder with good accuracy without wrinkling and deflecting.
16 Production of tapered product made of wire net JP20430182 1982-11-19 JPS5994544A 1984-05-31 INOUE MIKIO
PURPOSE:To improve production efficiency and to lessen the loss of a belt-like plain weave wire net which is cut zigzag by blanking said wire net to a square shape along the cutting line and drawing the central part thereof. CONSTITUTION:The intermediate part in the width of a belt-like plain weave wire net 1 consisting of vertical wires 1a and horizontal wires 1b is cut zigzag to form two wire net pieces 2. The pieces 2 are blanked to form many blanked pieces 5 of the wire net each having a square shape including each crest part 4 at a zigzag side edge 3, so that the wire 1a and the wire 1b form two diagonal lines. While the peripheral edge part of the piece 5 is pressed, the central part is drawn, whereby a tapered product 6 is formed.
17 Forming method of elastic annular body by wire mesh JP20128682 1982-11-17 JPS5992139A 1984-05-28 KINUGAWA HITOSHI
PURPOSE:To form an elastic annular body free from separation from winding end of a wire mesh by winding a flat wire mesh on a mandrel, covering the outer circumference with a cylindrical wire mesh and forming by compression. CONSTITUTION:A flat wire mesh 1 made by interwinding a heat resisting fine metallic wire etc. is wound on a mandrel 2 and the outer circumference is covered with a cylindrical wire mesh 4. This material is formed by compression to a specified form to obtain an elastic annular body 5. This elastic annular body is used for a cushion ring or a gasket for ball joint, and the separation from the winding end of the wire mesh can be prevented surely even if the repeated load acts on it.
18 Manufacture for tapered product made of wire netting JP4872382 1982-03-25 JPS58167042A 1983-10-03 INOUE MIKIO
PURPOSE:To eliminate occurrence of an off-spec product and facilitate manufacture of the device, in a process that presses a wire net by an annular wire net pressing member and draws by a tapered drawing punch, by specifying the structure of the wire net pressing member. CONSTITUTION:A vertically movable annular wire net edge pressing member 2 energized downward by force of a spring is put on the middle part of the height of a tapered drawing punch 1. The member 2 is relatively thick, and has a flat pressing face 3 on its lower side, and attached to a plte 8 with four suspending rods 4 having springs 6 put on lower half of them. A flat wire net 19 is placed on a tapered drawing die 13, and the punch 1 is lowered and whole peripheral part of the net 19 is held by the face 3 of the member 2 and a flat pressing face 14 on the peripheral part of the die 13. Under this condition, the punch 1 is further lowered, and the net 19 is pressed strongly by force of the springs 6, and at the same time, central part of the net is deeply drawn. By this way, a tapered product 20 having no folding deffect can be obtained.
