PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous rubber adhesive composition which does not substantially contain a hydrocarbon solvent by incorporating, into the same, an aqueous natural rubber latex, a sulfur vulcanizing agent in an amount enough to vulcanize the latex, and a thiuram accelerator and a sulfenimide accelerator in amounts enough to reduce the vulcanization time. SOLUTION: This composition is prepared by compounding 100 pts.wt. (solid basis) aqueous blend of 35-95 wt.% natural rubber latex and 5-65 wt.% carboxylated rubber latex with 0.2-10 pts.wt. sulfur vulcanizing agent, 0.05-5 pts.wt. thiuram accelerator (e.g. dipentamethylenethiuram tetrasulfide), 0.05-5 pts.wt. sulfenimide accelerator (e.g. N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenimide), 0.2-10 pts.wt. zinc oxide, 0.2-10 pts.wt. antioxidant, etc. The carboxylated rubber latex contains 30-85 wt.% conjugated diene units, 15-60 wt.% vinylaromatic monomer units and 0.1-10 wt.% units derived from an unsaturated acid or its anhydride.

A hollow rubber play ball is disclosed that uses a combination two or more fillers to produce desirable playing properties in a tennis ball as specified by the International Lawn Tennis Federation (ITF). The preferred play ball is a pressureless tennis ball. The specific fillers disclosed are mineral type particulate reinforcing fillers such as silicas and carbon black, polymeric fillers such as cellulose, a reaction product of grafting polyethylene with cellulose, and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers. These fillers can also have surface treatments to enhance the elastomer-filler interaction. Another reinforcing filler that can be introduced with the rubber components is the non-rubber constituents in skim rubber that serve to increase the modulus of a compounded rubber.

PURPOSE: To produce a hollow rubber-made play ball which has stable playing properties and a durability and causes few softened cases of the ball after repeated stressing, by using a composite rubber composition comprising a rubber, a mineral-type particulate reinforcing filler, a polymeric filler and a hardener. CONSTITUTION: This composite rubber composition comprises (A) at least one rubber, (B) at least one mineral-type particulate reinforcing filler containing a silica and/or carbon black (preferably, e.g. a filler having a specific weight of 1.2 or larger and a particle size of from 0.01 to 0.1 μm), (C) a polymeric filler comprising at least one selected from a reaction product of grafting polyethylene with cellulose and an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and (D) a sulfur- based hardener for curing a rubber. A composite rubber composition wherein the mineral-type particulate reinforcing filler of (B) is a silica of from 1 to about 40 phr and the rubber of (A) is polyisoprene, polybutadiene and/or a skim rubber, is preferable. CONSTITUTION:Polybutadiene rubber of 5X10<6> to 2X10<7> Z mean molecular weight is used with high cis-polybutadiene containing 97wt.% or more cis-1, 4-coupling as a rubber component of a core rubber composition of a non-pressure tennis ball. Here, a rubber molecule of high molecular weight is more contained by specifying the Z mean molecular weight to 5X10<6> or more. In this way, repulsive performance of the non-pressure tennis ball and a feeling of hitting the ball are improved.
